The very popular multi-tool app, Fixmo Tools, has just been updated to v2.0 with tons of new functionality. They have incorporated the main features from the Chocolate Chunk Apps they swallowed up along with a whole list of other improvements. They also cleaned up the look of the app so it is more or less consistent across the whole app. I have been having fun with the app since the beginning of the week and I have to say I am very impressed with Fixmo Tools v2.0. The screenshot feature addition by itself gave the app a whole new use for me. Fixmo Tools simply blew past the competition with this latest update. It is jam packed with features many of which I still need to figure out how to use.
Here is a basic summary of the main changes in version 2.0:
- UI Improvements across all the applications
- Wifi File Transfer – Transfer files to and from a PC or Mac directly to your BlackBerry using only Wifi and your computers browser (former Chocolate Chunk App)
- Wifi Media Backup – Seamlessly back-up the photos, videos and voice-notes on your Blackberry to your Windows PC (former Chocolate Chunk App)
- Remote Print – Print emails, photos, contacts, memos, office documents and more directly from your BlackBerry to your printer over WiFi (or through BES) (former Chocolate Chunk App)
- RemindmeLater - Schedule a reminder in your calendar for a meeting, email, SMS and more
- Screenshot – Capture a simple screenshot from any application from within the application menu. The captured screenshot is stored within the device’s pictures folder
- Memo – Create a list to-do items that are posted directly on top of the background of your BlackBerry display
The new v2.0 of Fixmo Tools is a bit hefty at 3.6MB but with all the features and sub utilities it contains it is well worth it. Fixmo is pricing the new v2.0 aggressively by cutting the price down to $9.99 in the store and offering a discount to existing v1.0 customers with a $4.99 upgrade. (I will let you know once I learn what the upgrade process is) If you simply consider the fact that the three main Chocolate Chunk apps are now baked in to Fixmo Tools v2 you instantly see the value. So far Fixmo Tools has made it on my short list of must have apps for my BlackBerry.
