We have heard quite a bit about the interview Mike Lazaridis had at Dive Into Mobile and now we have a chance to watch it all for ourselves. Until now we were limited to snippets of video and some live blog transcripts but there is nothing better than the original. You can check out the aprox 40 minutes of footage straight from AllThingsD below:
After watching the video I still agree that Lazaridis sounds a bit flustered on stage. My take is that he was coming on stage to talk PlayBook while Kara and Walt were focusing more on RIM’s core product the BlackBerry. One fact that transcripts seem to have missed is that Mike confirmed that RIM is already testing out faster multicore processors and larger resolution screens. The only scary thing is that he specifically confirmed that RIM will be moving these devices forward with BlackBerry 6 as the foundation. He claims that the BlackBerry 6 experience will get much better with a faster processor since it is already so fast (sic) with a 624Mhz processor.
Still it seems like even Mike is on the edge on this one. He is touting how the AMAZING QNX operating system is going to revolutionize mobile computing with the Tablet yet on the Smartphone we are stuck with a aging OS built for a two way pager. If anything just give us some hope that we can finally do away with J2ME and all its limitations…
Let us know what you think of the interview if you watch it!
