Shockingly we have yet to have a ePub reader for BlackBerry devices. We do have a few eBook options from a few companies but none of the applications currently support reading the popular HTML based ePub eBook format on your BlackBerry. Keeper had a need to read some books in eBook format and announced his BePub ePub eBook reader on our forums.
The BePub application is still in early beta and though it doesn’t work on my BlackBerry OS 6.0 Torch it does work on older OS versions. Keeper is working on fixing the bugs I am having in OS 6.0 but if you have a previous OS I highly recommend checking out BePub. The app is a little slim on options but it does let you control the font and font size. I asked Keeper to also add in the ability to reverse the contrast which is a feature I use in MobiPocket all the time.
The one thing you need to know about BePub is that it stores and looks for ePub books in /bepub/ on your memory card or /home/user/bepub/ on your devices memory. You can download tons of free ePub eBooks at www.epubbooks.com and test it out. The controls are simple. Just use SPACE to scroll down 1 page and SHIFT + SPACE for up 1 page. T for Top and B for Bottom as default browser does.
You can pick up BePub OTA at this link and report back your findings or suggest features in the forums.
Let us know how BePub works for you!
