Adobe Max 2010 starts today in Los Angeles, CA and runs until October 27th. RIM is planning on having a pretty big presence there and they have posted three sessions they will be having on QNX, the PlayBook, and WebWorks. The one thing that Luis and I have found glaringly missing is any mention of Flash for BlackBerry on the current OS.
At DevCon back in October of 2009 RIM has said that Flash is coming to the BlackBerry OS in the summer of 2010 and people have been waiting for it. There have been quite a few delays and Adobe split hairs nice and thin with excuses but now that RIM has cozied up with Adobe for the PlayBook I wonder when we will see Flash for BlackBerry launched.
I have not heard any confirmation or seen a prototype of a BlackBerry running Flash except for a simulator at DevCon 2009 but Jim Balsillie was pretty adamant that Flash is important:
…developers want more options and customers want to fully access the overwhelming majority of web sites that use Flash. We think many customers are getting tired of being told what to think by Apple.
What do you think? Is RIM capable of pulling a fast one and actually launching or at least announcing the launch of Flash for BlackBerry this week?
