News of the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has been leaking out consistently for the last few months. Quite a few carriers are planning on rolling out this refresh of the original Bold 9700 leaving many users wondering when it will actually launch. Right now it seems like it will be the only way to officially get BlackBerry 6 in a classic BlackBerry candybar phone before 2011.
The team at TmoNews managed to snag a slide from T-Mobile showing that the BlackBerry Bold 9780 will be launching on November 17th. Once again it confirms the specs with BlackBerry 6, classic 624Mhz processor, etc… The main difference seems to be replacing the silver chrome of the original 9700 with a black style on the 9780.
My only real issue with the Bold 9780 refresh is that it disincentivizes carriers from releasing BlackBerry 6 for the original 9700. Once the 9700 gets BlackBerry 6 the only real reason for the 9780 is more RAM…
