Qwell let us know about their new service that takes a different approach to blocking calls on your BlackBerry. Unlike regular call blockers this is not just an app. It is an app, service, and voicemail replacement bundled into one. What it does it with the click of one button it automatically puts you phone into privacy mode.
Anyone that calls you phone while it is in this privacy mode will be greeted with a message saying that you wish not to be disturbed and asked to leave a voicemail. It also gives them the option to break through the privacy setting if it is an emergency. You will automatically get an email if somebody tries to break through the privacy setting in case you don’t have your phone near you. The app also keeps a log of all break-thru calls, voicemails, missed calls and hang-ups allowing you to easily call them back or send them an SMS.
Since the Qwell service also does voicemail it will send you a email with your voicemail so you can listen to it. Pretty cool right? The only downside I see is that the service seems to forward your call to their voicemail service which may cost you minutes or incur call forwarding charges. You can test out the service for free at www.qwell.com with no payment information. When the trial expires you will be asked if you want to pay the $3.99/month subscription fee.
Check out a video demo of the service below:
NOTE: Qwell is currently only available in the US
