The battery life of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has left me a bit wanting with it barely squeaking by a full day of heavy use. One of the issues users are having with the device is due to how RIM presents the battery. Until now RIM has really shown the battery as percentage bars with extra colors going to yellow and then red when your battery became critically low. The torch just starts gradually filling less and less of the icon until it pops up an alert and dies a minute or two later.
The team at ShaoSoft decided to do something about this little annoyance and released a free app called Plug It In. This app allows you to set a threshold of battery life after which it can play a noise at a certain volume and flash your LED. It will also show an indicator in the top banner with a number representing your battery percentage.
You can find the free Plug It In app in the store at this link. (via CrackBerry)
