RIM is putting in a nice effort to reach out to developers in other locations beyond the once a year DevCon & WES conferences. Their latest upcoming event will be in Washington DC on July 21st so if you are a developer on the east coast let us know if you attend. You can find out more details about the event at this link.
The developer day will covering everything from detailed development training to upcoming API’s. What’s interesting to me is that they will be covering the upcoming Advertising, Payment, & Location services that are coming soon for BlackBerry developers.
In case you missed our coverage of those API’s at DevCon last year here is a refresher:
- Advertising Service – This new service & SDK will help developers integrate advertising into their BlackBerry apps – More info
- Payment Service – This service will allow for in app payments like premium content, monthly or annual subscriptions, and additional levels or upgrades for games – More info
- Location Service – This upcoming service will allow developers to tap into your location based on GPS and cell tower location information. It will also crowd source location data between BlackBerry users which is cool. – More info
