Rhomobile Announces Rhodes 2.0 For Rapid Enterprise Cross Platform Smartphone App Development

Rhomobile phones Rhomobile has been working on their cross platform smartphone application framework for quite awhile. The idea behind the product is that you can create multiple apps using HTML and Ruby instead of a separate app for each platform. They have recently released v2.0 of their Rhodes product that simplifies and optimizes the framework to make it even easier for companies to rollout applications for BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian as well as the iPad. The framework is now licensed free under the MIT license which is also reassuring.

Rhodes 2.0 key features:

  • Native mapping for all devices – iPhone-like mapping capabilities for all smartphones
  • Faster sync via RhoSync – the only sync server that keeps local enterprise application data current and accessible
  • Optimized native styling – all apps created with Rhodes ARE native and LOOK native
  • Metadata framework – enables apps with changing underlying schema (key for data-intensive mobile deployments such as CRM, ERP or SAP applications)

Rhodes 2.0 is available at this link on Rhomobile’s website. Tutorials and other documentation can be viewed at Rhomobile.com/docs.
