S4BB Network Traffic Control Beta 0.0.4 Helps You Track Data Usage

networktrafficcontrol Many users have asked me if there was an app to help track network data usage and there have not been any real solutions available since OS 5.0 was released. S4BB hopes to change that with the public beta of their Network Traffic Control beta 0.0.4 that they just released. They warn that the app is in VERY EARLY beta so it might not be correct but it may be worth a shot. I remember MiniMoni had a bit of issue tracking data since OS 4.5 due to some changes RIM made in how it reports data usage to applications. I wonder if S4BB found a way around that…

You can download Network Traffic Control by providing S4BB your email address for the download at this link. Keep in mind they may spam that email address with product offers.

Features of the 0.0.4 beta include:

  • Tracking Traffic: Tracking the network needs to be activated manually. Note: only the amount of traffic is tracked. No traffic content is tracked at any time.
  • Daily Traffic: On the main screen you can see the daily traffic.
  • Monthly Traffic: Via “menu » Monthly traffic” you can view the monthly used up traffic (full month is only shown when traffic tracking was activated from the first onwards).
  • Important Notice: This is a very early BETA version. Data integrity and accuracy can NOT be guaranteed!

  1. I’m the author of MiniMoni and had a quick look right now and I must say that the program suffer obviously the same problem as MiniMoni. The figures they receive via the API are interpreted as bytes (if I’m not too wrong) what lead to wrong measurement on 4.5 and later devices. I really hoped they found a different solution but… 🙁

    I dropped a mail to them – let’s see.

    Axel.

  2. i have been using Mobile Data Elerter for the past year, I am not sure how accurate it is but it has a roaming section, home section, wifi section, you can enter your daily and monthly limits which is great http://www.e-office.com

  3. Mobile Data Alerter is also available in the App Store
