Now that RIM has started allowing themes in the BlackBerry App World I think it is worth covering what a theme is and why you would want to install one. A theme for your BlackBerry lets you change the way your BlackBerry interface looks to suit your own style. It is a great way to personalize your device so that your device does not look like everybody else’s device.
With the new release of BlackBerry Theme Studio 5.0 you can get some awesome themes for your device. There are hundreds of free themes along with premium themes that cost anywhere from $3-8 on average. Most new BlackBerry users I meet are not aware that they can even get a different theme for their BlackBerry since not many other smartphone or feature phone OS’s support themes.
A BlackBerry theme can add some real pizzazz to your BlackBerry experience with cool transitions and menus to fit your own taste. There are even popular themes that make your BlackBerry OS look like the Android, iPhone, or Palm WebOS.
A great place to find themes is our BerryReview BlackBerry Themes Database where you can find free or premium themes for your device. There are also hundreds of themes in the BerryReview Store and the BlackBerry App World will also soon have their own share of themes.
If you are a BlackBerry Theme developer you may want to check out RIM’s developer blog and main blog Inside BlackBerry which have been covering theme development quite a bit.
