When John Wargo let me know about the release of his book “BlackBerry Development Fundamentals” [Our Review] I didn’t realize how many others were in the pipeline from other publishers/authors. John pointed out on his site that there are 7 more BlackBerry development books coming including one that was just released called “Beginning BlackBerry Development” by Anthony Rizk.
Beginning BlackBerry Development seems more focused on actual development examples though the first review of the book on Amazon is not that great. We will hopefully be getting a review copy soon and will share our thoughts. RIM told me recently that they are pushing to have more books written about BlackBerry Development and it looks like their efforts are working.
The other six books that are coming soon are:
- Advanced BlackBerry Development (Coming very soon)
- BlackBerry All-in-One For Dummies (March 22nd, 2010)
- Professional Blackberry Java Development (February 2nd, 2010)
- Beginning Smartphone Web Development: Building JavaScript, CSS, HTML and Ajax-Based Applications for iPhone, Android, Palm Pre, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 (December 31st, 2009)
- Pro Smartphone Cross-Platform Development: iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Android Development and Distribution (April 5th, 2010)
- Learning BlackBerry Game Development (by Carol Hamer & Andrew Davison) – [Couldn’t find a link for this one]
John is trying to start a site just about BlackBerry books at www.blackberrybooks.org which will hopefully create a community around BlackBerry Development. I wish him luck!
