IM+ Beta Adds Skype Chat – Voice to Text Coming This Month!

implus_triple Shape Services is really trying to shake things up with IM+ this month. They have just released a public beta that adds Skype Chat functionality so you can chat with all of your Skype contacts. They also announced that they will be adding voice to text features by the end of this month that will let you dictate IM messages using the powerful Yap technology. It would be cooler if you could have the whole conversation read to you along with your dictation so you could just chat hands-free… 🙂

As I said it looks like IM+ is definitely thinking outside the box on this one… The Skype Chat is just a regular evolution of the client but voice to text sounds like fun! I just hope it does not cost more.

You can download the public Beta of IM+ for BlackBerry with Skype Chat feature at the OTA or desktop links below. It is now version 7.0.2 and is available for OS 4.3-5.0. If you do not already own a copy of IM+ you can pick one up in the store currently for $19.99 on sale.

  1. I have installed and configured some services but Skype is certainly not one of the available ones listed…

Hrmmm, maybe no Skype support? Or it’s just hidden really well!

  2. When I try the OTA link for 4.6 the latest beta is 7.0.1

  3. 7.02 does not start on a Bold with OS 5.0.0.90:
Error starting IM_2_BES: Module IM_2_BES attempts to access a secure API
Anyone successfully running 7.02 on 5.0.0.90?
