Ticketmaster For BlackBerry Released – Glorified Browser Plugin

I happened to be checking mobile.blackberry.com for some updates and found that Ticketmaster for BlackBerry has been released. I installed it instantly and was waiting to be blown away. This IS “The official smartphone of TicketMaster” so there I was expecting big things!

Turns out that Ticketmaster for BlackBerry is just a glorified browser shortcut/plugin with some added menu items and BlackBerry Wallet integration… YAY! There better be some great deals and ticket offers to make up for building up so much hype for a lightweight web app… In truth it is just a regular mobile website that would work on any other device. Do you really need the wallet integration if TicketMaster just saved your payment information when you register?

Features include:

  • Official smartphone of Ticketmaster: BlackBerry smartphone users receive special access to advance or reserved tickets, special events and other fun promotions and rewards.
  • Mobile, online purchasing: BlackBerry smartphone users can purchase Ticketmaster tickets on their mobile device without having to call an operator! The optimized viewing plug-in will allow BlackBerry smartphone users to remotely access and search Ticketmaster for BlackBerry smartphones by artist, team, keyword, zip/postal code, city/state and categories.
  • Easy to use: the Ticketmaster for BlackBerry smartphones application uses familiar menus and navigation for a simple and fast user experience.
  • Express checkout: With just a few clicks, BlackBerry® Wallet fills in credit card and shipping information making a seamless ticket purchasing experience for all users.

Ticketmaster for BlackBerry still has the same annoying 2 minute timer for purchasing your tickets so you better type fast! At least Ticketmaster gave up on their annoying use of CAPTCHA when you search for tickets on your BlackBerry. The only really new thing you will see is that the app adds some shortcut links to the menu of the browser. Even the location setting does not have the option to use GPS in case you did not know the zip code.

You can pick up the browser plugin free at mobile.blackberry.com
