Tashanna let me know about this interesting new service called ArrivedOK. It works in a unique way. You setup a list of people who you wish to be notified when you land along with your flight details (aka flight number). Then when you land ArrivedOK will check for when your phone registers on the cellular towers when you turn it on after the flight and automatically send out SMS messages to your contact list.
It gets more useful if you travel internationally since your device only sends one text message out to ArrivedOK instead of one to each of the people you want to notify. That saves you on international roaming text messaging charges. As I said it is an interesting idea but I am not sure if people will embrace it. Maybe if they teamed up with Orbitz or something they could automatically sign you up when you buy a ticket…
Check it out at www.arrivedok.mobi. Its free during beta but I cannot imagine how much they would charge for such a service. They would probably be better off putting a short text ad at the bottom of the message instead…

Can’t get it to work for US numbers. Any ideas on the format they need to be in?
