It looks like quite a few people have been trying to get Vlingo working on their Storms and until recently have been having no luck or have to run in compatibility mode. If you look on Vlingo’s website it clearly shows that the Storm in not supported so I just assumed it was not. That is until Neng sent me some screenshots showing Vlingo running just find now on his OS 4.7.0.114 Storm. I then did some digging into the Vlingo OTA download site and it clearly does show support for OS 4.7… Very weird.
Just as a reminder. Vlingo lets you:
- Send and reply to emails and text messages
- Search the Web
- Dial the phone
- Look up contacts
- Send a “note to self”
- Voice updates to Facebook & Twitter status updates
- Tell A Friend
- Read-back of the full text or email message that was spoken
- The ability to launch built in programs: Address Book, Alarm, BrickBreaker, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Maps, Media, MemoPad, Messages, Options, Tasks, Web browser
- The ability to launch third party programs: Facebook, Google Maps, Opera, Viigo
So if you want to pick up Vlingo for your Storm and were waiting for official support you can pick it up a www.vlingo.com/wap/blackberry.jsp.

it does eat up a lot of memory. if you go into the options menu and select voice key active “only on vlingo home,” it does help a little with the memory issue. i’m assuming that it’s because having the key active “anywhere” keeps the application open, so that it can listen for prompts.
