Qantas flight crew were issued with BlackBerry devices last June as part of a trial to increase productivity and reduce the paperwork that was weighing staff down.
As well as the standard email and SMS communications capability that they have been utilizing, they are also using their BlackBerrys for customer service feedback and fault reporting hence eliminating the time stuck behind the computer upon arrival at their destination.
One thing about all this that gets me though is… if you were going to try and keep staff happy, and considering they travel all over the world, wouldn’t you issue out a BlackBerry with a camera instead of an 8800, so they can use it to take some snap shots for friends and relatives? I suppose it would be a great way for the pilot to kill some time on the long, long flights from Down Under though.

they are using “there Blackberries”? Shouldn’t that be “their Blackberries”?

It should actually be ‘their BlackBerry devices’ but it was really late when I posted it and had had a long day…
Thanks for the pick up…
