T-Mobile At Home Linksys WRTU54G-TM Firmware Update

Nikolaus let me know that Linksys has updated the firmware for the latest T-Mobile @Home router to 1.00.09 this week. In true Linksys tradition there is no changelog so we will have to guess what they updated.

Pick it up at this link

NOTE: This update is for the latest Linksys router for T-Mobile with the two landline ports/jacks on the back. The older WRT54G-TM has not seen an update since November 2007…

  1. I regret installing because I have not noticed any benefit, and the one bug I found is that opening the DHCP Client list no longer works. If you still have 1.00.04 then don’t upgrade until they fix this. The DHCP Client list shows you all IP addresses your router assigns out, such as to your UMA BlackBerry (maybe also your PS3 w/ linux)

  2. Talking to Linksys support they recommend after the Firmware Upgrade (remember to save backup your configuration to a file first) hold the resent button for 10 seconds to reset the router. I will see if that helps.

  3. Nikolaus, Did reseting help with this problem?

  4. This whole setup is freakin garbage. T-Mobile can’t get this working for squat. Not only can they not get this working properly but, they cannot get billing setup properly. Unless of course you want to pay a $300+ bill a month. It’s amazing how you call one rep about some billing/setup issue and get an answer and call again the next month with the same issue and get a different answer/result.

  5. I have had my T-mobile router since October, and I still cannot connect my wireless laptop to my router. I've talk to T-mobile,Linksys, and my IP. No one knows what the hell the problem is. I even contacted my HPservice. I agree with Junkmaster ,"this is freakin garbage".

  6. I have had nothing but trouble with this since installation – ISP error after ISP error. Totally unreliable ant TM are hopeless with their troubleshooting and help staff – 2 outa 10

  7. I have not had any problems with the router since i configured it as a bridge and let my other router handle dhcp and i can see both wireless routers and connect to either one and i have not installed the upgrades. My only complaint is the address restristion on devices so my kids cant get on after certain time does not work right.

    • Dave: The restriction on the T-Mobile router is like you said…useless, but there is an application called “Blue Coat K9 Web Protection” It is an awesome program that must be installed and set up on each individual machine, but it is completely free and has helped me a great deal! Maybe this can be useful to you. the one quirk that I have discovered is that you cannot set it up to restrict access to certain sites at certain times…it’s either all or nothing. BUT it is the best free ware to be found anywhere, made by industry professionals that have kids of their own and could not find a viable solution, so they created one of their own. Enjoy!
