Yesterday I got a weird email from RIM that really had me shaking my head. I have already gotten used to RIM spouting old news in their BlackBerry Connection newsletter but this one took the cake:
BES v4.1 Service Pack 6 was released back in the middle of July… What are they doing sending out an email almost 2 months later announcing that it is “available now.” Are we supposed to jump up and down and yell Yippee? Who exactly was RIM trying to target with this email? Any BES admin worth his salt would have heard of the upgrade months ago. Most users would not have a clue what this means. On top of the the top feature “HTML & Rich Text Email” is only available to OS 4.5 devices which are not even officially out for 90% of carriers…
Credit goes out to RIM for sending in this not so new news!

I suspect it’s all tied up with carriers approving an HTML capable device OS? Maybe it’s a precursor to their FINALLY being some news coming shortly that 4.5 might actually roll out???

And the emails with the contests and free promos that are only for US citizens – I unsubscribed to it all.
