I was in my friends car a bit back and I noticed that he has an easy USB charging port built into the central dashboard. Pretty cool stuff is what I though. That is when I read this article on Endgadget and decided to research what it would take to hook up a car with some USB charging goodness. Its not like it is so hard to get a DC charger but it would be a cool way to make use of all of these extra MiniUSB cables we have lying around.
Engadget pointed out that USBFever is allowing you to preorder a 4 USB port charger with a DC passthrough for $22.99. After I did a little bit more digging in the comments and around the web I discovered 3 other USB chargers for your car that look pretty slick.
- 4 USB port charger with built in FM transmitter – $6.80 shipped
- Simple 1 port USB charger for a cheap $2.58 shipped
- Kinsington 90watt power inverter (home plug) with 1 USB port – $39.99
I am still surprised about how USB became a charging standard but at least we have a standard. Let me know if you spot some other slick charging goodies for your car.

I also have a 12V to (2) 12V plus USB that I use — I can’t remember the source off hand…

I read it this morning. But I thought the review said it was not enough to charge the blackberry but enough to keep it at its current level.
