If you enjoy listening to NPR, or even reading NPR online, make sure to pick up the NPR shortcut. I’d never heard this one mentioned before, and was not alerted to it on previous visits to m.npr.org, however as of now you can pick it up.
As an added FYI here is an example of the many BlackBerry shortcut links out there you can pick up. If you have a lot of bookmarks in your browser like I do, it can take a lot of scrolling or navigating folders to get to the one you want. I found it easiest to have a folder on my homescreen containing the shortcut links I like to visit.
Here is a breakdown of the ones I have installed:
- Google News – OTA install not available from google.com/m anymore, nor the Google Mobile Updater app. If anyone knows how to get an isolated install of this, please post it.
- NPR – m.npr.org
- CNN – visit m.cnn.com – there is a banner ad to “Get a 1-click access from your BlackBerry”. Typo?
- ABC News – visit wireless.go.com/wireless/abcnews/index and follow “Click here for *FREE* one-touch access to ABC News on BlackBerry
- The New York Times – mobile.nytimes.com/bbinstall
- BerryReview – On the mobile page of BerryReview.com click the banner “NEW Add Bookmark to BerryReivew” (I have missed it myself before)
- The Washington Post – http://mobile.washingtonpost.com/item.jsp?key=bb
- CNBC – mobileapps.cnbc.com and at the bottom find “Put CNBC on BlackBerry”
- The New York Times Dealbook – mobile.nytimes.com/bbinstall
- Bank of America – http://mobilebanking.bankofamerica.com/bb
- Wikipedia – visit m.jonathanhfisher.co.uk for Wikipedia and other apps
- ESPN – OTA install here
- Goal.com – m.goal.com and click “Get it here for free” under “BlackBerry Users”
- USA Today – m.usatoday.com
- Ask Me Now – m.askmenow.com and head “Applications”
- Handango (comes pre-installed)
If you need some help finding the install link for some of these just leave a comment

As an added note: Some complain that these shortcuts just cut into your precious memory. Answser: These are on average less than 10k, so having a few will never be noticable. If you want to save memory then read the articles on databases posted recently.

@artie;
From your home screen click the Blackberry button and select “Add Folder”. Once done you can use the Blackberry button to click an icon and then move it to the folder.
