RideCharge – Book & Pay For A Cab With Your BlackBerry

Hayden on PinStack just found this new application called RideCharge. Turns out this application lets you book a taxi, sedan or shuttle, from your Berry. It tells you immediately (supposedly) when your cab is waiting. It also requires you to pay them through your BlackBerry by confirming the ride and entering how much it costs. I wonder how long it will take the first person to use this to explain to his driver that he is not trying to skip the fare.

RidechargeSo far it is available for use in Washington-Baltimore, New York Metro, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City, Charlotte, Nashville, Portland, OR, Phoenix, Austin, Sacramento, San Antonio, Tampa, Nationwide (Dav El Limo).

On the one hand, I don’t see myself using this application. On the other hand, I can really see this taking off with large companies wanting to simplify expense accounts for their employees. This seems to be what it is made for. I guess I am spoiled in Manhattan. All I do here is lift a hand…

If your interested check it out at www.ridecharge.com

  1. Great idea. Doesn’t work – in Los Angeles, the cab driver didn’t know what it was, and certainly wouldn’t let me pay with it.
