Well that is not entirely true since it will be in effect for tethering with your BlackBerry. After BoyGenius reported about the 5Gb data cap for Sprint. Cnet got a response from them that the cap will not be exactly the same as Verizon and AT&T’s cap.
The new cap will only apply to tethering and using EVDO cards. That means that normal unlimited smartphone plans are unaffected. (Can you really use 5Gb on a smartphone?) You can catch the specific details on Cnet.
The funny part is that all of the Sprint reps i have met rag on Verizon and AT&T for having caps on their unlimited data. Their philosophy was you should get what you pay for when your buy unlimited. I guess those days have changed…
Anybody know what prompted the change all of a sudden? This is going to make WiMax a hard sell for Sprint. Who is going to want a 30 Megabit wireless connection if it is capped at 5Gb.

I think I trust Sprint not to enforce this on about as much as I trust Verizon or ATT or Comcast or Cox or …..
