I know I keep on receiving questions asking how to take screenshots of what you see on your BlackBerry screen. There are three different utilities/applications that I know of that let you do this. The first two are free and the last is commercial. I wont go into how to use them because they are more or less self explanatory. Let me know if I missed any.
All three of the applications also allow you to take videos of your BlackBerrys screen. Keep in mind that all the video does is keep on taking screenshots so it will be quite choppy.
BBScreenShooter (Screenshots) / BBScreenStream (Video) – FREE!
This application is free and is created by oppiTronic. The only caveat is that the application requires a RIM file called Javaloader.exe. You can pick up Javaloader.exe from Pinstack.com at this link. Otherwise it comes free if you install the BlackBerry JDE. If find that BBScreenShooter is the most flexible of all the utilities here with the ability to take screenshots in multiple formats with quite a few options.
Rove Mobile Viewer – FREE
This free application does a beautiful job of taking screenshots but does not have any options. Still it takes some very nice screenshots and video.
Mobiola Screen Capture For BlackBerry – $14.95
Mobiola is a great screen capture and video utility for BlackBerry and has quite a few original options. On the other hand it has one fundamental flaw. It does not allow you to easily set the prefix of the screenshot. This means that all images are saved as image001, image002, image003. To change this you have to go through the options each time to edit the prefix. Other than that Mobiola offers some serious features such as screenshots over Bluetooth. It also allows for you to use the application as a webcam to share video over Skype video or YouTube. They have a trial if you are interested in trying it out.
