First things first… I was talking to myself yesterday about all the things RIM should really do and this was not even on the list. Do we really need another forum dedicated to BlackBerry? I am going to head into this with high hopes but my experience with the AT&T forums has been a dissapointment in vendor run forums to say the least. Let us know what you think in the comments.
With that said Robb from Rimarkable noticed that RIM has launched an official BlackBerry Support Community Forums. The idea of the forums seems to be a way to facilitate customers helping other customers. Not really anything new. On the other hand the forums have been getting some pretty heavy hitters from the other BlackBerry forums so only time will tell.
You can head on over the the forums by going to this link: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/
While reading through the forums I ran across this post by one of the RIM admins. (Who by the way had only 2 posts). So
Hi everyone, and thanks for visiting our new Forums. Your feedback and participation are always welcome.
Our guidelines give you some background on the purpose of these forums. In general, we believe that BlackBerry users deserve a variety of convenient options for solving problems and getting the latest information, and we hope these forums become a useful and valuable channel for you. Our guidelines also discuss the role of RIM employees.
These forums have been designed as a peer-to-peer support channel in which users help other users. While RIM will participate from time to time, please visit the Support & Services tab to access direct support options that may be available to you. We’ve also added some language to the home page to this effect – hopefully that will help everyone get the best use of this forum.
Also, please feel free to contact me through Private Messaging if you have additional feedback or suggestions.
Thanks again for being some of our first forum participants, and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Here is to hoping for more RIM interaction in the forums…

This will grow and be used by really uninformed people who just simply look for the first sign of support and don’t expand their horizons to using google to find other alternatives, I have made approx 15 posts to the site and already received warnings because I posted a link on how to unlock vendor themes, lithium will run these forums like they run the att one and the sony one..with a heavy hand and that’s not the way to approach it. Great idea, but imo not well thought out so far
