SanDisk has upped the ante on MicroSDHC cards by announcing their new 12GB card. I actually saw it at the show but it was camera shy. So far these larger SDHC capacities have only benefited people using OS 4.3 since the older OS 4.2 does not support more than 4GB. I actually have a 6GB card lying around gathering dust until I can actually use it on my Curve. There is no solid release date for the 12GB version but knowing SanDisk it will just start showing up in online stores such as Amazon.
I really wish would get it over with already and release 4.3 for the other product line. Practically every PR rep at RIM’s booth today had a BlackBerry Curve with OS 4.3 installed. I wonder how much more testing it already needs.

Later releases of OS v4.2.2 added some of the previously v4.3 and newer features (e.g., 8 GB microSD support, .wav file playback, etc.). My 8830 with OS v4.2.2.196 currently has an 8 GB card that shows 7.6 GB of formatted, usable space. I am not sure if the 8 GB limitation is a true limit, or rather it may have been based upon the largest capacity available at the time.
