Empower InstaSpell – Inline Spellcheck as you type
Public Beta Version: 0.92

As we mentioned in this previous post Empower has finally released InstaSpell for public beta testing. Check out the application at the links above. You first have to download the application and then the dictionary over the air. You then need to go to the application icon in the home screen and click the menu button to index the dictionary which takes about a minute. You then need to enable spellchecking by clicking on the checkbox next to the option.
The nice feature of InstaSpell is that Empower has managed to make it universal. This means that you will find that spellchecking works not only in emails but also in SMS, notes, calendar items, and even googletalk. They claim they will be working on support for many other applications soon. Second of all is the fact that unlike other spellcheck programs, InstaSpell detects incorrect words while you are typing. In this version they have also added the ability to do spellchecking after you complete an email by clicking on the spellcheck option in the menu. The last feature is the fact that the dictionary is on the device so you will not have to insecurely send your text to a server and wait for a reply. This speeds up the process and actually makes the spellcheck more useful since you know if you even need to bother spellchecking the email. All mispelled words are underlined while you type so they are easy to notice. Hopefully in later versions they can also color the word to make it stand out a bit more. Check out the program at the links above and tell us what you think. You can also look at more screenshots after the jump.

This is one of my favorite apps. It works, flawlessly. Of course you need Empower Email Viewer to go with it.
The best of the Email, Calender, and Task apps.
Get it!
