puccatheme

I’m here for ya ladies….those cute little feminine themes may make some guys gag but for us girls, well…we can’t get enough. ShellBell67 over at Themes4BB answered a member’s request for a Pucca theme and I’m so glad she did. OK, the fonts are crazy and in some cases, may be a bit hard to read but I promise you that with the home screen icons neatly dropping down as you scroll over them and the cute little images of Pucca and her pals make this theme ridiculously adorable! And, it’s FREE. Just head over to Themes4BB to grab the OTA. (Registration required)

deezer It seems like every few weeks we are hearing about yet another streaming radio hit. Miguel let me know about Deezer which seems to be a streaming radio app but not a personalized one like Slacker & Pandora. It is only available for the Storm, Bold, & 8900 and from what I can tell the app lets you listed to one of 35 genre’s of music along with MP3’s you have uploaded to Deezer.

NOTE: The help and about pages are not in English so its hard to tell exactly what is what. If you understand it let me know!

The Deezer application is available for download now at m.deezer.com or you can read more at www.deezer.com.

Reversi (aka Othello) Comes to the BlackBerry Storm – 99 Cents!

reversi Reversi really brings back memories. I used to play it back in the day on Windows 3.11 when I was really bored. Tafasa let me know that they have released Reversi for the BlackBerry Storm. It is a classic strategy game that is easy to pick up but hard to win.

The game is on sale now for 99 Cents until July 31st after which it goes up to $2.99. All in all a pretty good game for a great price. I am a big fan of strategy games on my BlackBerry since they are easy to pause and continue between meetings or while waiting for my wife at Macy’s. :) Sadly like all Tafasa games this is Storm only…

From the product description:

Reversi, also known as Othello, is the fun and famous strategy board game that is easy to play, but hard to truly master. Now the game is available on your BlackBerry so you can play everywhere! The game provides 5 different computer difficulty levels to challenge all people regardless of experience or skill. You can also challenge your friends in a 2-player match to see who is the real champion. This fun, animated and graphical game is easy to use and will keep you entertained for hours.

rbb4-9500s-20-c5otr_.1The all new OtterBox Commuter Case for the BlackBerry Storm has turned up on their site over the last couple of days.

This newest offering looks to be a mid-range cross  between the Defender and the Impact cases with a mix of hard shell and soft silicon based insert.

The pricing is listed at $34.95 (USD) which would support the mid-range theory. They are not available just yet but you can register your interest and get a notification at http://www.otterbox.com/blackberry-cases/blackberry-storm-commuter-case/

Hopefully we will be able to bring you a full review as soon as we take delivery of one. No news yet on whether or not if will become available for any other BlackBerry but we will let you know if it does.

From their site:

The OtterBox Commuter™ Series case for the BlackBerry® Storm™ offers the best of both worlds; incorporating elements from the rugged Defender Series™ line with the silicone, skin-like Impact Series™ line to create a slick case designed with your style in mind. It’s protection without the bulk. The exposed silicone corners dissipate impact away from the device for additional bump and shock protection and the smooth outer layer allows the case to easily slide into your pocket or purse. All buttons are fully functional through the case and the audio jack and USB port are accessible through silicone plugs.

Includes: Self-adhering clear protective film, microfiber cleaning cloth and installation card.

Desktop Manager 5.0.0.11 Auto-update – Fixes Database Backup Error Issues

Desktop Manager 5.0.0.8 made a pretty splash when the BlackBerry Tour was released. I got quite a few emails these past few days that RIM has been pushing out Desktop Manager 5.0.0.11 as an automatic update. Until now I just assumed it was a bug fix but did not know what it fixed exactly so I did not mention it.

Tom and a few other readers sent in tips pointing to the fact that this version fixes some of the database backup errors causing problems in 5.0. For example when doing a backup, instead of failing when there is an error, it will now tell you what database failed and offer to continue and complete the backup. Now that is worth mentioning!

You can pickup 5.0.0.8 directly now or through Verizon (use any number) and then check for updates to get this version.
