I know many of you have been looking for OS 4.5.0.69 for the 8300 since it was not found back in August. The Fantom just sent us a link letting us know that the OS can now be found around the web in torrent and other forms.
Point in fact:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/46edd0/
Thanks to the Fantom for sending this one in!
NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.

A friend of mine who uses T-Mobile UMA asked me why his battery was dying so quickly at home compared to when he was at work using WiFi.I personally do not have a WiFi or UMA BlackBerry so I decided to do a bit of research. At first I thought it was just him imagining things because WiFi is power hungry…
After a bit of digging I ran across a feature that could be the culprit behind his story. Turns out that Cisco enterprise routers have a feature called WMM Power Save that is not supported by many/most household wireless routers. Many routers support WMM which improves multimedia and video over wireless but most companies do not bother setting up WMM Power Save which helps boost battery life since it is not required by the standards committee. The claim by the WiFi Alliance is that WMM Power Save will improve battery life by 15-40% which is obviously a big deal.
Once more I set out to do a bit of digging and it turns out that BlackBerrys are certified to use WMM Power Save. According to this knowledgebase article this is the reason for the battery life discrepancy.
So I am still on the hunt for a consumer wireless router that supports WMM Power Save and so far have not had much luck. Has anybody found a good one?
There is a list available at this link where you can check what certifications your current router has but I have not had the time to go through them. Let me know if you spot any.

Now this is a quick trick I learned that I thought I would share. Have you ever just wanted to add or remove an application right quick without having to fire up Desktop Manager and wait for it to connect to your Exchange server? I found a way to quickly fire up the application loader without having Desktop Manager open.
Just follow these extremely simple instructions:
- Head on over to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader\
- Open/double-click on loader.exe
That’s it!
If you are like me you will want to create a desktop shortcut to loader.exe.

This is a pretty good deal from Bplay since they don’t offer discounts often. After reading their last mailing I noticed that they are offering a 20% off coupon if you become their fan on Facebook. I guess that really does not cost you anything so if you were planning on picking something up from Bplay this might help you save a few bucks.
You can click on this link to join their fan club on Facebook. I am not sure what they gain by you becoming a fan but I always love a discount.
Let us know if it works for you!

Its Friday! Pizza Day for a lot of people and how convenient is it that one of our readers, Tashanna (thanks!), has informed us that Pizza Hut now has some competition in the mobile ordering game! Domino’s has now decided to give customers the opportunity to order items off their menus straight from our BlackBerrys via text messaging.
I decided to check it out since I happen to like Domino’s. First visit the Domino’s website and register for their mobile ordering. You will then receive a text message with the link for their mobile site. You can also just go to mobile.dominos.com but you must register at their website to be able to place an order.

Once you receive this text, follow the link to their mobile ordering site. Then you can find a store for a walk-in or place an order or delivery or carry-out.

Then enter your username and password that you used when registering at the Domino’s website. Place your order, and voila, pizza at your door in about 30 mins.

You can use online coupons through the mobile site and even build your own pizza all via your web browser. I gave it a try and I have to admit that it’s a lot more detailed in its ordering than Pizza Hut. You can build your own delicious pizza starting with the crust and working your way up to sides, desserts and even drinks. That is just way too many screenshots to post. You’ll have to definitely check this one out! Register for Domino’s mobile ordering at Dominos.com. Happy Pizza Day!

Tom just let me know the good news. We have mentioned BBNotepad quite a few times on BerryReview as a great free text editor for BlackBerry. One of the downsides of the application was that you were constantly prodded with security prompts because the application was not signed. This has now been fixed!
If you use the application make sure to send the developer a donation if you can! You can find the new download links at the BBNotepad homepage at one of the two links below:
