I am surprised that I did not hear when this was released since I was keeping an eye on the similar alpha release we mentioned back in January. Turns out that Remember the milk released an official MilkSync client for BlackBerry with an impressive feature set. The only downside is that it is not free but it is not that expensive. To use the client you need to sign up for the Remember The Milk Pro account for $25 a year. They even throw in a 15 day free trial for you to give it a spin before you subscribe.
Product Description:
MilkSync for BlackBerry is an application that synchronizes Remember The Milk with the built-in Tasks application on your BlackBerry. Features include:
- Two way synchronization (or optionally RTM to BlackBerry, or BlackBerry to RTM)
- Scheduled synchronization (e.g., automatically sync every 15 minutes)
- Include all lists or specific lists from RTM in sync
- Easy access to sync via the menu in the Tasks application
You can read more about the application and download the desktop install files on the product page or you can download the free trial OTA at this link: www.rmilk.com/milksync.

Can you believe it has already been a month since we announced that we will randomly choose one reader who has sent in a tip each month to win $50? I have been thinking over the weekend about how we can randomly choose a winner for the contest when my cat, Mars, walked onto my lap and started pushing keys on my laptop.

As you can see in the picture the contest winner was chosen by seemingly random cat steps typing out 93688 amid a smattering of other letters and symbols. I then divided that by the tips we had sent in this month, 362, which rounds up to 259 which gave us our winning tip! Very complex
So with no further ado the winner is…. Tashanna. You should be receiving an email from us soon with instructions on how to collect your prize.
To all who did not win this contest is continuing this month. Keep an eye out for the announcement and some slight changes. Notable mention goes out to DavidB, Nikolaus, & Tom for topping out the “tips” list. This was a case of quantity along with quality. Thank you for all your help!

We ran a poll over a week ago asking you about your opinion about cell phone warranties. I thought the results were pretty interesting due to the fact that a good portion (30%) of the respondents are paying their carrier for an extended warranty. On the other hand 42% are just fine with RIM’s standard 1 year warranty that comes with most BlackBerrys. I personally found that AT&T and T-Mobile are really good in fulfilling the manufacturers warranty (within the first year) but they do usually send you a refurbished device in exchange for yours.
17% of the poll agree with me in thinking that warranties are a waste of money/time. It makes me wonder if people are against the fact that you have to go through your carrier to redeem the warranty or because there are too many restrictions. Only 5% of responders thought that cellphone warranties are currently too expensive and another 5% found that 3rd party warranties were a better bet.
What is your opinion about cell phone warranties?
- I take the risk. The 1 year RIM warranty is fine for me (42%, 79 Votes)
- I already pay my carrier every month for extra coverage (30%, 57 Votes)
- I think warranties are a waste of money/time (17%, 32 Votes)
- Extended warranties are currently too expensive (5%, 10 Votes)
- I purchased a 3rd party warranty (5%, 10 Votes)
Total Voters: 188

Back in June we mentioned this free service that would automatically backup your SMS messages. Well they had some issues early on, and rather than provide a service that would not work for everyone, they pulled it for their BlackBerry clientele. The guys over there have been working incredibly hard to get this going again. And today, they went live with this great service… again.
If you have never heard of DexRex, I will briefly overview it, but only because I think it is a great service. If you are like me, there are several reasons that you might want to be able to access a copy of your SMS records. I get messages from my fiancee, friends and family(some of whom are no longer around) that are rather special to me. I am required to keep any SMS messages that are work related. And in general, I am a packrat and don’t like to throw things away
DexRex does all of this for you, automatically. No more selecting an entire text message, copying it, pasting it to an email and archiving it on my computer. Install a simple plugin, and lay back. Whenever you need access to your messages, log in to DexRex.com and you not only have an archive of every message, you can filter them by contact, search them, analyze who you have been talking to the most and so on.

This service is free, and available to anyone who wishes to participate. Just head over to www.dexrex.com/mobile on your mobile device to get started.
DexRex will also archive and manage all of your IM conversations through most if not all of the major Instant Messaging services, if you want them to that is!

Steven, from PimpMyBerry.com (fast becoming one of my new fave theme sites), recently released a new theme called ‘Bold’ Gerber Daisy Zen theme for 83xx devices. According to Steve, this is a remake of a previous version… The difference being, he used ‘Bold’ icons. He also added a few tweaks to this version, making it Wi-Fi compliant as well. Since this is a Zen theme, you can change the main page icons to whatever you like. Great work Steve!

Tashanna sent in this cool site she found on Download Squad. myMiaMia gets points for having a wacky name and having an interesting service. You essentially submit a question along with your email address or phone number and it will send you back an answer. The cool part is that you can ask your question in plain text like “When was the first BlackBerry released.” The service will first try to automatically answer the question from their databases but if not it will be answered by what they call Human Knowledge Assistants.
(Imagine putting that on your resume)

I love Download Squad for testing it out by asking “Who played Ash in Army of Darkness?” (one of my favorite movies) myMiaMia actually got the answer right which is impressive.
Check it out at www.mymiamia.com and let me know what you think! According to the comments on Download Squad you can also check out www.chacha.com which performs a similar service.

Tricia just let us know that RIM has put up 12 new ringtones on their mobile.BlackBerry.com website. Nothing crazy here but I checked out a few of them and they were actually pretty good. Sadly there is no way to try them out from your PC but you can check them out by heading to this link from your Berry.

Both DavidB and the Fantom sent in links to the 8220 on eBay which is currently going for over $850. Pretty steep if you ask me. Kevin scored some info which shows that Rogers is planning on selling the 8220 for $149.99 with a 3 year contract. Rogers is notorious for having the highest price for BlackBerrys so $850+ is just plain redonculous…
If I did not manage to deter you then you can check out the auction at this link.
