The files are located in the Resource/Theme directories, then the 240×260 directory (will have the 8100 files) the 320×240 (will have the 8300, 8800 files) I’d suggest not changing the 7100 or 8700 (is there an os 4.5 for 8700?) files/
these are the lines you edit:
theme.supportedHandheldOs = 4.2.1,4.2.2,4.5
theme.preferredHandheldOs = 4.5
theme.importOs = 4.2.2,4.3.1
- Go to the dimension320×240 file and do the same for the 8300Custom, 8800Custom.
I don’t think you will find it necessary to edit the 7100 or the 8700 (are the 8700’s going to be using OS 4.5?)
ENJOY!

I know there are quite a few of you Palm & Windows Mobile users out there who have been waiting for this moment for quite awhile. Iambic is finally bringing Agendus to the BlackBerry OS. The Beta is already available and there are a ton of screenshots to please everybody. Agendus is essentially a personal information manager that lets you manage your calendar, tasks and more from your BlackBerry.

Check out the beta page at this link or the screenshots page at this link (Registration required). There will be a 50% discount for beta users so I recommend trying it out. They have a whole forum dedicated to this Beta at this link.
To download you need to go to this link to get the desktop install file and then go to this link to get the beta registration code. They plan on implementing OTA install either later on in the beta or with the full release.
I don’t know why they decided to have so many different pages for the same beta…

Ever do an OS upgrade on your BB and worry that your 3rd party applications will be forever lost if you mess up? You are in luck because there is now a way to backup all your applications to your PC from your BlackBerry. Even those applications that you have downloaded OTA (Over the air).
Our friend EVO gave us simple step by step instructions on how to to this and will show you today.
1. Run Desktop Manager and connect your Berry to your computer.

2. Once the phone is connected click on the Switch device wizard icon and it will take you to the screen shown above. Click Start and it will take you to the next picture where you have some options. Only check the option where it says backup 3rd party applications and hit next. This will begin the process of backing up all your 3rd party applications to a temporary folder on you PC. This is the most important part. Read the rest of this article

Thanks to Tim for sending this one in. ABC Amber BlackBerry Editor is a useful program that lets you edit your BlackBerry contacts in a Backup file. This application is a subset of the BlackBerry Converter application we told you about almost a year ago. The best part is that this version of the application is free.

Essentially the application lets you edit your contacts in a Backup file and then you just reload the backup. Simple as that if you want something more powerful that Outlook for mass editing your contacts.
Check it out and download it free at this link

More and more software is coming out that seems to be targeted at students. The latest is a piece of software called Cram that lets you create tests/study guides and take them on your BlackBerry.

Its a very simple piece of software. You can either build tests on your BlackBerry or create simple text files and upload them through the desktop interface. Not that complicated but there is definitely some overhead involved. I am not sure how this differentiates from the free gFlash+ but it looks interesting. I just hope it is worth the hefty $19 price tag.
You can read more about Cram on their website. Or there is a free trial available for OTA install at this link or Desktop Manager install at this link.

I have been holding off on this bit of news since I could not get Zumobi to work or even the download website to work. I keep on getting Proxy 502 errors. On the other hand I did manage to finally get it to install through this link OTA.
For now I will ignore that since the Zumobi application looks quite promising. It creates what they call tiles out of news and makes news quite digestible on your BlackBerry. I am not sure how this will compete against a real news source such as Viigo or Freerange. On the other hand you can create one of their “Tiles” out of any RSS feed so it is essentially just a new more visually pleasing spin on a RSS feed reader.
If you really want to score something out of the Zumobi launch you should sign up for the contest at BlackBerryCool where they are giving away ten $50 Amazon Gift Certificates!
You can check out the Zumobi features on their website www.zumobi.com. Once their servers are back to working order you should be able to signup and install the software from this link.
