Okay I have been dying to ask somebody what the story is with all of these Marshmallow shooters I have been seeing online. If you don’t know what I am talking about check out this product at ThinkGeek.com. I have even been seeing the Marshmallow shooters on respectable websites like Hammacher Schlemmer.
SO I ASK: Is it holiday tradition to shoot marshmallows 40 feet across the room? Did I miss the memo about the Halo marshmallow deathmatch? Is this some weird college frat house holiday party favor?

I am dying to know what the market is for a marshmallow shooter. I feel like everybody is at a party that I don’t know about
. Being Jewish all I have are dreidels and Chanuka Menorahs. The closest I have found to an explanation is the website of Marshmallowville.com but even that seems to be a dead end.
Somebody please let me in on the secret
. Should I be buying Marshmallow stock this holiday season?

Convenience Software, the creators of FindIt, have released another piece of software that I think many BlackBerry users will appreciate. The software is called DoIt Pro and is aimed at simplifying to-do lists on your BlackBerry device. You can do most of what is offered by DoIt with the native Tasks application but DoIt promises to make your life much simpler.
In short DoIt Pro is a simplified checklist application. You enter in the tasks you need to get done and check them off as you do them. Its as simple as that. If your interested in a review of the software just speak up and we will get somebody working on it
You can understand it better from the description on their website:
Have you used a lot of task lists?
Have you noticed how complicated everything is?
Do you wish you could stop setting dates and times, and just enter a task to be completed?
With DoIt Pro’s simple and intuitive interface you just enter the task and that’s it, no complex interface to deal with!
Not only that, but it can be updated by email, so if your spouse can send you the shopping list and it will get automatically added to your to do list.
The software is going for a relatively cheap $7.99 at the following link. You can try before you buy and download a trial at this OTA link or using this Desktop Manager download.

I just got an email about an interesting new program for BlackBerry devices. The program is Unyverse and is in public beta (This whole beta thing is getting old quickly). I have installed it on my phone and it does seem to have some interesting features but I am still dumbfounded as to why I would actually use it. The interface actually reminds me of the iPod interface without the scrolling/fade effect.
If your interested in trying it out and reporting back I would greatly appreciated. I am just plain confused with all the submenus. It seems to be a product that does many things but none of them are simple
. For example it has a built in RSS reader but you need to go through 5 different menus before you get to the articles…
Product Website: www.unyverse.com
OTA Download: www.unyverse.com From your BB Browser
DM Download: www.unyverse.com/uws/download/rim/unyverse.zip
Here is a brief description of what you can do with Unyverse from their website:
- Send info quickly from your desktop to your phone
You are sitting at your desk and have to leave within two minutes to meet someone. You are in a rush and need to take the contact’s mobile phone number and directions to the meeting place along with you. In a few clicks from your desktop, you can copy and paste the info into a new contact using the Unyverse Contacts wiki, and it becomes instantly available on your phone the next time you connect to Unyverse.
- Make sure you don’t lose all the data stored in your phone when you change phones
You’ve entered lots of important contacts in your phone’s address book, and you’ve gotten used to taking down notes and storing personal data. Now you’ve got a new phone and are wondering how to transfer all that stuff over… With Unyverse, you never have to worry about changing phones, as all your data is stored in your web account and will be downloaded to your new phone. Add the Contacts wiki yo your phone
- Read info on your phone when you have a short break
While you are waiting for someone, sitting on the bus or the train, or just have a half hour break, download the latest news feeds with the Unyverse RSS News wiki, to read on your phone.
- Search a knowledge base from your phone when you’re having lunch with a friend
In the middle of your conversation, a question comes up: “Hey! What was the name of that actor in the film Titanic “. Well, bring out your phone and go to Wikipedia in the Unyverse app, search the word: ‘Titanic’, and there - in a few seconds - is the answer to your question.
- Send handy travel information to your mobile
If you travel frequently you will find that the Unyverse Notebooks wiki is useful because you can conveniently copy and paste information from various emails on your desktop like flight bookings, hotel reservations and various other travel info. You then get all the info on your phone, without having to type in a single word on your phone’s tiny keyboard!
- Communicate with a group of users anywhere anytime
You’re an absolute fan of a soccer club. Start or join a Unyverse Wiki group of club fans like you, and connect to Unyverse on your mobile to keep in touch at all times with the latest news, discussions, opinions, rumors, comments, on players, matches,…
- Keep a shopping list and download it when you’re in the shop
With the Unyverse Shopping Lists wiki, your wife can create a list of groceries to buy on the home PC. When you find yourself in the shop, just connect to Unyverse on your phone to get the latest items that were entered by your wife.

ExchangeMyMail has always been one of the heavy hitters in the BES hosting arena. They have just announced today that they are now offering Exchange 2007 hosting for all new accounts. They seem to have worked out all the issues with BES and Exchange 2007 and have had it running smoothly for a month now. I know other Exchange hosts such as TheMessageCenter.com have been holding off on Exchange 2007 due to reliability issues. I am glad to see ExchangeMyMail taking the forefront with bringing Exchange 2007 to BlackBerry BES users. The whole experience of Exchange is improved in the 2007 version especially the Outlook Web Access.
Note: Last time I checked BIS does not support Outlook Web Access 2007 so you must sign up for BES hosting since using just BIS will probably not work (yet).
There is also a 10% lifetime discount offered to users on BlackBerryForums.com that can be used to bring the price down. The price after the discount is $17.98 a month which is quite good but there is a 1 time setup fee of $35.99. Luckily there is a 30–day money back guarantee but you will not get your setup fee refunded. I really wish ExchangeMyMail would join TheMessageCenter in doing away with setup fees. I think they deter users who would be interested in trying out the benefits of BES hosting. Hopefully ExchangeMyMail will also allow current customers the option to move from Exchange 2003 to 2007.

Ever been standing in a store wondering if you could get the same product cheaper online or at another store?
I just found a great new mobile website mobile.barcle.com that lets you search for an SKU or product name and get instant results including what the competition is charging for a product. Personally I have found that searching using the SKU is much better but you can also search by a product name such as a Canon SD1000.
The service is free but I found it interesting that even though it does allow you to compare prices it does not have links to the website where you can buy the product at that price. Hopefully that will be fixed in later upgrades. Personally I am waiting for Pricegrabber and Froogle to create mobile versions of their sites. There is also a desktop version of Barcle but it does not compare to Pricegrabber or Froogle.

I just saw a great new theme on BlackBerryforums by Styrizo which has a nice clean cut style for the BlackBerry 8100. I love the simplistic design and the very clear white on black styling. Personally the Bluetooth icon could use some work but otherwise I think the designer has some real style. The whole theme is very mellow and looked great on our test 8100.

Sadly there are no OTA links but the Desktop Manager files can be picked up at the following link. Nice job Styrizo!

Stefano just let me know that Simprit, the creators of GridMagic and Minisafe, have released a new version of GridMagic that is free for non-commercial personal and educational use. The new version has many of the key features of the full version with a few limitations shown in the table below. This is a great solution for personal users who need to be able to edit and access Excel files on the go. Check out the new free version at this link.
You can see a summary comparison at this link or a detailed comparison of the versions at this link. It seems like Simprit is trying to create a free software community on their dedicated free software portal. So far GridMagic seems to be the big free release but hopefully they will have more coming.
OTA downloads are available at www.Simprit.com/wap.wml

Moving to a new location? Wondering where you will find the best reception? Trying to find the exact direction you should be leaning your head when you only have one bar…
I just got an email from one of our readers Jerry about a website, antennasearch.com, that has been gathering information about the location of almost two million towers and antennas across the USA. The latest update has over 1,942,811 towers and antennas indexed. You just enter in your address that you wish to research and you get a nice google maps report of all the antennas near the location and which carrier is using which antenna/tower. There is even information indexed about future towers that are planned to be installed. I am not sure who is behind the whole website but talk about a great resource! It takes a bit to process each report (Anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in a densely populated area like NYC) but they are very useful. I just wish they had a progress bar instead of just spinning gears.
Check it out at AntennaSearch.com
Now I know which window to stick my head out when I want to get reception in my small Manhattan apartment
.
