Let your dog chomp and chew all over this BlackBerry without having to worry about slobber, bite marks or being “berried”. As long as you can pick up another one for 3 bucks, who cares right!

I have seen this floating around a few places, and thought that it might be good for a laugh. This is an actual dog toy available from www.dogstuff.com. You can pick it up for 2.95 plus shipping. I think I’m going to pick up a couple, one to add to my BlackBerry collection and one for the hounds!
Modeled after the popular email and PDA device, this trendy new “Petberry” toy will make your dog look as important to his friends as he is to you. Toy measures approx. 5″ high.

First they take away the wonderful KickStart name from their new clam-shell and call it a Pearl. Now it seems that RIM has decided against calling the long-touted touchscreen BlackBerry the Thunder. Instead, it looks like they have chosen another weather related name, the “Storm”. Its seems like the touchscreen BlackBerry will be shipping on Verizon as the Storm and on other carriers such as Rogers & Vodaphone will be calling it the Thunder. Yay! More confused users…

To be honest, I don’t mind this new name change near as much as I did with the Pearl/KickStart fiasco. However, “Thunder” has grown on me over the past few months. Such is life, I suppose. Let us know what you all think about this new name change.
In the long run, I don’t know how much these names really matter. RIM seems to have a problem sticking with calling devices by a name rather than a number. Perhaps it is the years of habits yet to be broken, but I know many people who refer to their Curves as 8300s and their Pearls as 8110s.
Perhaps RIM is hoping that this new device will catch the world by Storm-Sorry, bad joke, couldn’t help it.

I know that sadly many of us do not have a BlackBerry Bold but one of our secret agents sent in a link to the latest OS available for the Bold. If you do have a Bold it may be worth the upgrade and if you don’t it cant hurt if you plan on getting it later on. From what I can gather this is the OS that the AT&T Bold should be shipping with but I could not confirm that.
BlackBerry Bold 9000 OS
4.6.0 release 253
Platform: 4.0.0.139
Applications: 4.6.0.134
The link sent it was: http://www.mediafire.com/?kzpmqqxqtjw
NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.

This is a common question I get when friends see the shortcut I have setup on my BlackBerry to only show me my unread messages. These shortcuts are accessible by going into the messages application and selecting ALT+Shortcut_Letter. For example, my unread messages shortcut is ALT+U.
To create a keyboard shortcut to search for unread messages follow these steps:
- From the Home/Main screen, click on Messages.
- Press the S key.
- Change the Show field to Unopened Only.
- Press the Menu button.
- Click Save.
- In the Title field, type a name for the search.
- In the Shortcut Key (Alt +) field, select a shortcut key.
- Press the Menu button.
- Click Save.
To use the shortcut you just press ALT and the shortcut and you will get your saved search. You can always edit the search by pressing S in the messages application, hitting the menu button and selecting Recall.
Let me know if it works out!

I was looking for a simple way to get RSS alerts through IM for a homebrew application I was working with and came across iNeZha. In a nutshell iNeZha is an RSS bot that automatically takes RSS and delivers it through a couple mediums. That means you can subscribe to an RSS feed and have the summary and link delivered to you through your Google Talk client.

I had a very specific need for this which I wont go into but I thought it was worth mentioning since this is one of the only ones I could find that supports Gtalk & email.
Check it out at www.iNeZha.com and let me know what you think.

Candice Novak of US News sure seems to think so and she even has 7 examples of how it could end up biting you in the… I have been telling my wife for quite awhile that she should not get personal emails sent to her work email address. For the longest time she resisted until I finally convinced her to get a personal Gmail account. After doing a bit of research I found Candice did a great job of compiling 7 ways that email at work can come back and haunt you.
Her reasoning includes some pretty shocking facts from the Bear Stearns subprime debacle. Did you know that checking personal email from work allows employers to read it? Your email sent through your companies computers is under their ownership. In short there is no privacy claim for you to make. My favorite part was when the author quoted Ken Siegel saying “send E-mail with the assumption that the person you really don’t want to read it will read it.”
Read the rest of the article at this link on US News. Maybe it will help you convince yourself or a significant other that personal email at work is not the best idea…

I just got the latest newsletter from Bplay, and inside I found out that, for a limited time, they are giving away “Pro Golf Paradise”. This offer is only good through the end of the month. So if you want in, you had better do it in the next couple of days.
Follow this link to pick up the game.
From Bplays Website;
Escape to the ultimate golf destination and forget everything else! Pro Golf Paradise has perfect summer weather all year round, spectacular scenery including stunning coastlines, and challenging courses. Choose clubs, angles, and power to hit the ball exactly how you’d like. Avoid ponds and bunkers as you make your way to the green.

NOTE: They do make the comment in their email that they do require you to enter a valid credit card number in order to receive the game, however your card will not be charged.

I take public transportation every day so I am appreciate the need for mobile access to the train schedule. Especially with the understaffed information desks at most NYC transit hubs. I ran across this post by Dennis on WapReview where he lists a few good resources for finding transit information on the go and thought I would share. The first I use quite a bit and the others I cannot comment on. Let me know if you found others!
Sadly I cannot comment on the quality or reliability of any of these sites other than the first. I found the New York MTA site to be quite usable since their desktop website took forever to load on my berry. If you want some more information on each site check out this post on WapReview.
