Remember when we told you that iSilo for BlackBerry was in Beta? Well I was just sent a link to a Spanish blog reporting that it has been released.
The software allows you to convert PDF, HTML, and Word documents to take with you on the go with pretty good formating. This wont help with email attachments and actual word documents unless you convert them with your computer beforehand. The software is available for $19.99 after the trial.
You can download the software OTA, Desktop manager, or from your SD card using the files at this link. You will need iSiloX to convert documents to the iSilo format. You can also pick up hundreds of free documents and books at this link to use in the iSilo reader.
Features from their website:
- High text compression in iSilo™ format documents result in a 50% to 60% decrease in size, which is about 20% better than the Palm Doc format, allowing you to store more and larger documents on your handheld.
- Hyperlinks make it much easier to navigate through a document.
- Images add visual richness to documents, especially photo-quality color pictures.
- Tables allow the display of tabular data.
- Formatted text gives style to text for controlled emphasis.
You can check out more screenshots at this link if you are interested.

In OS 4.5 there is a new “Go To” menu option where you enter in web addresses. All of a sudden yesterday something new showed up on this screen after I installed the latest version of Google Talk (not sure if it is related).
RIM has added the ability to search Google, Wikipedia, & Dictionary.com! While it is not exactly the best execution it is very handy for a quick Google search. The problem is that the Google and Dictionary.com searches take you to the desktop versions of the site that do not look so good in the BlackBerry browser.
Check out what I am talking about below. I am not sure when it will come to your BlackBerry browser but it does show that RIM is open to the idea.

Sometimes, it seems that some people don’t realize that GTalk is a Jabber client and that allows them to have several protocols like MSN, ICQ, AIM etc. Since GTalk is free, you can have all these chat protocols in your Blackberry for free as well. The process may be a little bit strange to many people, but once you’re done, you’re done, you won’t have to worry much about it anymore. Here is the how to:

One of our regulars, Nikolaus, just let me know that there is a new version of the official Google Talk Client for BlackBerry. The version has been updated from 2.0.43 to the latest 2.0.46.
Once again there is no changelog and I have not seen any difference but since I have been having a heap of Google talk errors recently I have upgraded.
You can pick up the latest version by going to www.blackberry.com/googletalk

Review: Rove Mobile Admin 4.0
Rating:

9/10
Link: www.rovemobile.com
Cost: $495 per user with unlimited number of servers
The good folks at Rove (formerly Idokorro) have recently released Mobile Admin 4.0. Mobile Admin allows you to manage pretty much every system on your corporate network right from your BlackBerry. You can manage Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, SQL Server, DHCP, DNS, Cluster Server; Lotus Domino, Novell, Oracle, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Citrix, HP iLO, Backup Exec, VMware and RSA. Quite an impressive list of systems and possibilities. Imagine being able to disable a BlackBerry user or kill a handheld while driving home from work. Well for a geek like me it is a dream come true ! Not only can I mange my BlackBerry users but I can do Domino stuff or mange my Active Directory. Heck I can even manage my Novell servers for those of you who remember what they are…. ooh I’m getting all tingly !!!
This version also gives you a web interface which allows you to manage your environment from and desktop or laptop computer in your enterprise. BONUS ! Read the rest of this article

We have mentioned a few themes by Geenyc before but he recently emailed me about one of his more interesting creations. This theme is completely based off scrabble and is quite fun to look at. It is not the sharpest or most beautiful theme out there but I thought the use of letters as application icons was a really cool idea. This may not be to my personal taste (too much red) but I think the idea of each icon being a letter shortcut would be pretty cool. Got to love the “P” in the top right for profiles.

You can pick up the theme for Desktop Manager install only at this link.

Not sure if this is your cup of tea but I know many people who are really interested in this kind of stuff. The website KJVBible was emailed to me by one of our readers. It gives you access to the new and old testament from your BlackBerry browser. Pretty cool…
You can access it by heading to www.kjvbible.mobi from your BlackBerry browser. Let me know if it is any good.
If your looking for an application to have the Bible locally you can pick one up from the BerryReview Store at this link. From what I hear the Noah Bible Study Viewer is quite good.

Nikolaus also reminded me about a great free service that lets you monitor traffic cameras in quite a few large cities. I listed a few below but you can catch the full list at this link.

The traffic camera images are updated every 3 to 10 minutes and will show you a picture in your browser. The pictures are automatically resized for your BlackBerry screen. Just head on down to http://wap.impressglobe.com to try it out.
