Cursed Game for BlackBerry - Magmic
Rating 8/10
Link: www.magmic.com/game/cursed
OTA: magmic.com
Cost $7.95 (CAN)
Magmic has released a interesting RPG game for BlackBerry devices. This has to be the first RPG game that I have ever enjoyed on a BlackBerry. Trust me the story of this game is a riot. There is everything from zombies and maidens in distress to black magic on the high seas. The purpose of the game is to kill bad guys (yay!) and release your sweetheart Isabella from the clutches of the big boss. Talk about original. The game has a interesting story line and is quite addictive. The main issue I have with the game is that unlike other Magmic titles you cannot just exit the game and come back to the same point when you start. You must find water wells in the game where you can save you game and return later. This means if your trying to play a quick few minutes between meetings you are going to have to find save spot quickly or else lose all your progress. Now on to the review after the jump.

For all of you BlackBerry Curve users. If you haven’t already heard RIM has released a patch to fix the calendar reminder and duplicate calendar entries bug. You can get more info on the patch at this link: http://www.blackberry.com/select/calendarPatch2007/ . The patch can be performed OTA at this link: http://www.blackberry.com/CalendarPatch/patch/index.shtml. It is actually the same link for a desktop install of the patch. You just need to browse to the OTA link in Internet Explorer (no ActiveX in Firefox!) and follow the onscreen instructions. We had to reboot after we completed the install so keep that in mind.

Jtreitel has posted a website with directions and a download to install Hebrew support for your BlackBerry 4.2.2 OS. I have found that this also works with 4.2.1 devices like the 8800. You can follow the directions on his site here: http://jtreitel.addr.com/berry/ Keep in mind that you must follow the directions to the letter including every character mentioned in the instructions. Check out the directions on his website leave a comment if it works for you. Thanks to Jtreitel for this contribution. You can read a bit about it on BlackBerryForums.com at this link.

Empower has once again released a small update but with a big version jump from 1.1 to 2.0. They have released version 2.0.42.7 of their HTML email viewer. The announced feature updates are as follows:
* Force Use TCP/IP Option
* Space key on Suretype devices to scroll up/down
* Incoming PIN Messages shows correct “Using” field
* Date is now shown in headers
* From Field is clickable
* Default Sent via Empower Signature (Can be turned off under Advanced Options)
* Delete original text will delete the HTML view as well.
If you registered for a free copy as we mentioned here then you should know that Empower is currently sending out those emails with a license generator so that users can generate their own key with a special code. I am not sure how this will work in the future but so far they claim to have sent the generator to 500 of the registered beta testers. If you have not yet received the email with the generator keep an eye on this thread at BlackBerryForums.com for more info. Head over to the links above to download the new version.

If you have ever been stuck on the phone talking to a customer service machine then these resources are a must have. The first is GetHuman.com which gives you the direct access codes to reach a human at over 500 companies. The second is DialAHuman.com which has hundreds of listings of the same type. The most important for us BlackBerry users are the direct lines to customer service at our cellphone carriers. Personally I found GetHuman.com had better organization and no ads on their site. They also allow you to submit a rating of the cheat, rate the level of customer service, and how long it took you to get to a customer service agent. The direct links to the cellphone category of these sites are below:

PocketDay, our recent editors choice winner, has announced the main list of features to be seen in the upcoming PocketDay v5. As you can see on the left, PocketDay has taken taken on a new look and feel. It seems that they plan on adding beauty to the brawn. They have overhauled the look of the application. Added some major functionality such as creating a calendar event from an email and attaching contacts to a calendar entry. Another addition is a full screen weather page and a preview screen for emails. They have also added some features and hotkeys to take advantage of new hardware. Check out the complete list of features and screenshots after the jump.
