One of our readers who wishes to remain anonymous just let me know that BES 4.1.6 is now available to BlackBerry partners. The official name for the upcoming BES will be ”BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange v4.1 Service Pack 6 bundle 7″ The best part is that this release will bring HTML email to the table. No word on a release date but this looks promising!
Key features in the upcoming release:
- HTML Email Support
- IBM Lotus Domino Document Link Support
- Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007
- IBM Lotus Sametime 8
- IBM Lotus Connections Client
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Calendar Improvements
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Hard Delete Enhancements
A precursor to that was when the BlackBerry Partners website www.BlackberryUniverse.com started having .net errors today. I guess they are having trouble with it.

All you NASCAR fans rejoice. Tammy has released a Jeff Gordon fan theme for the BlackBerry 8300 which looks really good. The icons are custom and look nice but I think the added bubble around them is unnecessary. The top bar is just downright cool with a gauge for coverage and battery life. I like how the profile icon changes to different cars when you change profiles. Surprisingly the yellow color on red does not look bad. I usually am not the biggest fan of red but it looks good.

All in all very nice work. You can pick it up for OTA download only from this link on Themes4BB.com. Thanks Tammy!

Yeah you read that right. This is the “Your BlackBerry is a wonderland” John Mayer.
One of our readers, Terry, just let me know about a post John made on his Blog about getting a BlackBerry 9000 Bold. I guess he loves gadgets as much as anybody else. If only I was a celebrity…

Anybody notice that “AT&T” in the title bar. I know I am jealous… Mind getting one for me John? Pretty please?
Check out his post and high res images at this link

File this in the credible RUMOR column. I have not had a chance to corroborate this but it is coming from a credible source.
Justin just let me know that his T-Mobile National Rep gave him some details on the BlackBerry Bold aka 9000 series. According to his rep AT&T will be launching the Bold in October. T-Mobile will actually get a version of the 9000 that may not be called “Bold” in December or January once testing is complete.
This rumor actually makes sense since currently the Bold only has Tri-Band 3G which would not work on T-Mobile’s new 3G network. I am guessing this upcoming 9000 series for T-Mobile will support UMA and T-Mobile’s flavor of 3G.
JUST REMEMBER THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED!!! I don’t want anybody emailing us with hate mail if the device is released earlier or later.

The Opera Mini Beta version 4.1 has finally been officially released. Just found out from a post by James @ CrackBerry. The official version has over 150 bug fixes from the beta so its worth upgrading.
From the announcement on the Opera Mini Blog:
Among other things they’ve have adjusted is how the “Save Page” function works and also made it possible for BlackBerry users to surf with Wi-Fi. Also, the person that reported “Find in page does not work in Bookmarks page”: Well, we fixed that one as well.
Opera Mini enables you to take your full Web experience to your phone. Stay in touch with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, get your e-mail on the go, do your online banking. There are no limits — Opera Mini is the quick, easy and secure way to get any Web page you want.
With Opera Mini 4.1 we would like to introduce the following new features:
- Opera Mini 4.1 is up to 50% faster than Opera Mini 4.0
- Automatically suggest URL completions, making address input easy and intuitive
- Web pages can be saved for later off-line viewing
- Opera Mini 4.1 gives you quick access to the word or phrase you want in Web pages
- Images, ringtones and other content can be downloaded without leaving Opera Mini.
To download the full release head on over to www.operamini.com from either your desktop or your Berry.

Garmin is trying to trump TeleNav by offering a $99.99 GPS navigation plan for the life of your BlackBerry. This plan is not transferable to another BlackBerry device but is good for the life of your BlackBerry. It might just be better than paying a $10 a month subscription plan.
If you don’t have GPS on your phone they offer a GPS puck with the plan for $149.99. I am not sure about the quality of the Garmin GPS offering but it looks good. I might just have to try it. I just cant seem to locate a link for a free trial…
You can find out more about the plan at this link:

Or you can read the press release at this link.

Kevin @ CrackBerry got the scoop on the upcoming release of a new Aliph Jawbone. I personally use one of the current Aliph Jawbones so this is good news to me. It is not the ultimate headset but they have the least amount of problems and great features.

They did hopefully fix my two complaints with the original Jawbone. First the fact that they use a proprietary charger connection that sucks. They changed this to a magnetic charger but it still is proprietary. Second the fact that there is only 1 button and is hard to press. They fix the button issue by adding two touch buttons. Otherwise the audio quality is awesome and worth every penny.
You can catch a demo of the upcoming Jawbone at this link www.jawbone.com. Hopefully stores will have them in stock shortly. The price will be $129.99 and will come in Black, Silver, & Rose Gold. It is also 50% smaller than the original.
Full press release after the jump:

While watching Til Death last night I saw a great ad on TV for the BlackBerry curve from AT&T. Very well done. Afterwards when I was checking my Gmail I noticed this advertisement on the top of the page:

I then did a search for BlackBerry in Google and look what I found in the adsense area:

I guess RIM has decided to advertise the Bold early. Does that mean that the device is coming sooner than expected? I would not put it past RIM but it usually takes a few months for AT&T to release a device…
PS: While out in Los Angeles last month I actually watched the filming of this weeks Til’ Death episode live from their studio. Pretty cool stuff. If you happen to be in Los Angeles you really should check out this website www.tvtickets.com to get some free tickets to awesome hit shows.
