Ronen has mentioned Cellular Nationwide Network before, but that was several months ago and I would like to mention it again, this time from a different perspective.
You probably read Blackberry blogs and forums often and have run into several people complaining about dirty trackballs. This is a very common problem with the Blackberry, and it’s a two-fold problem…

I know a few of you were complaining back when we announced the availability of the Today Plus theme. Many realized that RIM did not offer a version for the 8130.

Well one of our readers, Brent, managed to figure out that if you play with the URL for the theme a bit you can get the download option and the theme on your 8130.
For the Today Plus Theme go to:
http://mobile.blackberry.com/resources/theme_catalog/themes/net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_plus_240×260_422_b.jad
Thanks Brent. Let me know if it works for you guys! I am curious to see if it also works with the 8120 & 8110.

One of our readers just brought to my attention a iPhone-like theme that I actually like. My problem with most iPhoney themes is that I find it very difficult to figure out what icon is what application. This commercial theme fixes this problem by putting the name of each app underneath the icon. I know this is being really picky of me with a perfectly good free alternative of the bPhone but I just don’t like having to hunt for my applications.

The icons of this theme are pretty much the same as the other iPhone look alikes but the title bar is quite nice and simple. They do put the date in blue for some reason but I guess that is just a matter of preference. Sorry I did not have a chance to do a full review of the theme but I just like the idea of the name underneath the main icons.

Just thought I would put it out there because I had been waiting for a theme which put the name of the app underneath each icon. I wish this was a feature you could turn on and off in a theme. That way it would give me a chance to acclimate to the new icons before I turned it off. Wishful thinking
You can pick it up for $7.99 from bPlay.com

John of JC Designs just emailed me to let me know about his latest creation, the Retro series of themes. The theme is available in today, zen, and icon formats for most of the recent devices.

The theme has some great clean lines if you like red. Personally I think he should come up with some other versions with different color schemes. I would rather blue or green. (Red has had some varying symbolic meanings throughout the ages) The icons are gorgeously done and I love the look and crispness of the today screen. These are some of the best icons I have seen to date. I am not sure how well the design would work with a different background but I will let you know.

He let me know that you can pick the theme up for $7 from the BerryReview Store. Don’t forget the 15% off discount we have going now.

I was just reading this really interesting article showing the perspective of an avid Windows Mobile users take on the BlackBerry. Adam Lein is one of the senior editors on PocketNow.com so his experience with the T-Mobile 8820 was a refreshing perspective on the difference.
I know I am a little biased but if you read the comments in the forum you can get a fresh perspective on the whole conversion process.
So have you used a Windows Mobile Device before?
How does it compare to your BlackBerry?
Personally I have tried multiple times to use a Windows Mobile device. This includes the Moto V9, BlackJack, Mogul, Touch, and many others. Personally I found the devices powerful but it always came down to one consideration. If you care about your email and PIM always working then there is no replacement for the BalckBerry. Yes it wont do video, yes it does not have as many applications, yes it is limited, but those are all perks to me and not a necessity.

You can read the rest over on Woot’s blog
If you are still bored after that let lose some steam by submitting your favorite CrackBerry post into CrackBerry.com’s new book.

I was just reading on BlackBerryCool that there is a new cradle in town for the Curve that is moderately priced. You can pick it up for a reasonable $26.95 from the BlackBerryDen.com.
Personally I don’t get the hype about a cradle. I used to hate when I had to use the cradle for my older BlackBerry. It also reminds me of the horrible Palm cradles. The BERRYBuddy actually looks good which is a change of pace but it doesn’t really add any functionality.
Can anybody explain to me why people need a cradle?

One of our readers, Bob, reminded me about another free weather application that many people use but we have never mentioned before. It is called WeatherBug Direct and it is available free.
It has some cool features including icon changing with the weather and weather alerts. It can also show you up to 3 days forecast which is not much compared to the other options.
Announcing WeatherBug® Direct for BlackBerry! Get live, local weather from any of our more than 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations around the U.S., plus live temperature and local forecasts — direct to your BlackBerry. Get WeatherBug Direct for BlackBerry today — Free!
Features
- Live, local weather conditions
- Local forecasts
- Live temperature on your home screen
- Severe weather alerts
- Quick link to WeatherBug’s mobile Web site for more details
Installation Instructions
System Requirements
- Blackberry OS 4.1 and later
- BB Dimension-Icon or BB Insight-Icon theme. The application will update under all themes but the user may experience slightly different alerting functionality. For example, the Verizon theme causes the alerting (blinking) to be hidden from the user. See the WeatherBug Direct for BlackBerry Help section below for instructions on changing the theme.
