Leaked OS 5.0.0.328 for the BlackBerry storm 9530

The guys over at CB got tired of waiting for Verizon to release the official 5.0 OS update and beat them by releasing a leak version.  If you are one of those brave addicts that installs every leak version you can pick up the new version at the following links:

9530 Version 5.0.0.328 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ISZLC1TY

They also have a version 5.0.0.327 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GPRXA5SA

Not sure what the differences are but you can try either one of them and let us know what you find on the comments below.

Remember if you are not familiar with OS upgrade do not install this version as you can risk of bricking your BB and this is not an official version.  Always remember to do a back up or use BSAK to backup your 3rd party apps.

LittleChirp – New Free BlackBerry Twitter Client Aims for Speed

Naviina let me know that they have just released a new Twitter client called LittleChirp. They admit that the market is already inundated with Twitter clients but their aim is to be the fastest and simplest Twitter client for sending tweets quickly. This is Navina’s first release and will be the first of many they plan on developing under the Mobikraft name. It supports most recent devices with the exclusion of the BlackBerry Storm for some compatibility reason.

Gadget of the Week: ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Gadget of the week is a new column that reviews available technologies that may be more tangentially related to BlackBerrys than what you regularly see on BerryReview. The focus for the column is the BlackBerry lifestyle–making everyday life easier and more efficient by employing simple-to-use and hopefully affordable technologies. This week’s review definitely stick to that theme and makes life a ton easier if you have a cat (or if you like to poop in a box). Feel free to post your favorite LOLcat in the comments. If you have any suggestions for upcoming articles let us know!

Gadget of the Week: ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Price: $139.95IMG_7299

The Pitch: Pets can be awesome, but cleaning up pet poop daily can really make you second guess whether the cuddlyness is worth the hassle. ScoopFree changes all that. ScoopFree is a litterbox that can detect when your cat enters and leaves the box. Once a predetermined amount of time passes after the cat does its business and leaves the box, ScoopFree sifts through the litter to clean the poop. The poop is stored in a closed container that hides any odor. You can leave ScoopFree for about a month before cleaning it–reducing cat cleaning from 365 times a year to 12.

Anagram Rebranded as Copy2Contact – No Longer Free

copy2contact-blackberry A little part of me cried when Shvartzberry let me know about this. He recently tried to download the free Anagram beta and was told it was no longer in beta and renamed Copy2Contact. The bad news is that it is no longer free…

Copy2Contact for BlackBerry is now selling for $9.95 a year putting it in direct competition with Gwabbit which has more BlackBerry specific features.

As a reminder Copy2Contact for BlackBerry grab new contacts and appointments from text on your BlackBerry screen, including email signatures, web directories, and search results and lets you create or update a contact from that information.

So is anybody going to run to this link and pick up a copy?

Create & Send MMS Multimedia Slideshows…

BlackBerry_mms I have to confess and say that I have NEVER sent an MMS message from my BlackBerry. I got turned off from MMS back when it first came out since AT&T charged more for MMS messages and they only worked between phones on the same carrier. Now it seems like MMS has really gotten broad acceptance but with email being free I never saw the point…

Still DavidB let me know that Al wrote up a great article on how to send some cool slideshow MMS messages from your BlackBerry with transitions, audio, video, & pictures. They look pretty cool but I doubt I will ever use them. Still if you have contacts that do not have BlackBerrys or smartphones (Anybody?) it may be a cool and expensive way to communicate with them! :)

Check out the great walkthrough Al wrote up on CIO.com and let me know what you think. I am curious as to how many people actually send MMS messages from their BlackBerry… Let me know if you do!
