Only recently has the BB FBChat App scene drastically expanded, but there have been options for a while now to chat with your FB friends on your BlackBerry.
I started with NimBuzz. It was ok, but wasn't well integrated into the native messages app and notifications were reset frequently.
Then I discovered IM+ Lite. Integration was better and notifications stayed constant but the ads and extra garbage promotions were annoying.
Since then developers have realized there is a huge demand for FB chat and a quick search for "facebook chat" on App World proves it. Over 20 options are available now ranging from free to $2.99.
I actually don't use it much, but the app I use for FB Chat now is called FaceChat. Its simple, is integrated with messages, and the notifications stay put. The only drawback on this one is that there are no other IM platforms supported. The only other one I use is GTalk though, so that's ok.
I honestly haven't tried the other apps out there because this one has what I need.
