My friend told me that his friend, who is an app developer, who developed and submitted his Playbook app sometime back has just received his playbook.
I have asked for some photo to back this claim up.. Any app developer got yours yet?

Just because developers may have gotten them doesn't mean it is released. They may get early models that will potentially require updates when the product is actually released.
It definitely hasn't been released bur if developers are stwrting to get theirs, them I'm hoping that means that the release is just around the corner.
It definitely is a good sign - both of imminent release and that I should have written something for it.
Write something for it anyway. You could get a free phone now.

I'd like to see some pictures of the PlayBook as well. Sounds like RIM making good on their promise of a PlayBook for "superapp" development. I don't think the week 17 public release is going to change.

That's why I asked him for photos or concrete proof. He's yet to reply me though. He usually reliable and truthful though.
That's why I'm also asking here if its true.

I'm pretty sure we'll be able to pre-order, but unless you have some retail connections, I don't think we'll get it early. We'll see. An early release to fanatics could generate some valuable buzz.

Is that what the promotion is now? I thought it was gone once they ended it, free phone is still nice though.

We haven't heard many details on who will have it yet (Staples & office depot) but I'm hoping to get mine through either Costco or Amazon. I have free 2 day shipping through Amazon and Costco has a 90 return policy on electronics...by comparision, Best Buy's return policy is 14 days.
