   After successfully upgrading to OS2 last night and using the new features my PB won't turn on today.

   I only get as far as those colourful Blackberry Playbook screens that are at the very start when you first turn your PB on.

   Those screens appear to be in a loop and so I never get to the PB home screen.

   So I went to Desktop Manager and lo and behold I can see all my pics and vids - but can't back up.

   I decided to do a complete re-install via DM but when it first started the update process it showed that it was installing 0 of 1 modules.

   After some time of the green bar progressing my Win 7 crashed and so i had to start the DM process again after
   I rebooted.

   This time the update shows that 69 files weae being updated .... so something odd about the first attempt.

   Currently it gets stuck in stage 2 and whilst downloading the 69 modules.

   On 4 different attempts now the download gets interrupted by a BB message that says I'm not on the internet - bullo - cause on each occasion I was well and truly using the internet in other screens.

   So - at this point in time I don't have a playbook - I've got a door stopper!!!

   BTW I decided to Restore my recently backed up version of 1.8.

   The DM restore program crashes when attemtping that as well.

   My aim now is to be able to access my PB in order to do a Security Wipe.

   Anyone know how to do a Security Wipe of a PB that doesn't require the device to be in working mode?

   Can you see it when you plug it into your computer, i.e. shows up as another external drive? Perhaps thru your DM you can initiate the security wipe or uninstall...

   Hi PBF - yep I can see it - but the system files don't show via Z drive - just the pics, vids, books etc.

   Do you know how I could access the PB interface so to speak via Z drive?

   PS - thx for your help. (Imagine smilies)

   Also - should have added - yes I can access music and pics and vids within the DM screen - but I don't know how to access System wipe through that.

   Do you?

   Try this:

   In your DM Under Tools menu
   Click on Desktop Options

   You should see "restore default settings" on the bottom left hand corner.

   Click on that and see if this will let you revert the PB back to factory settings.

    Today I successfully downloaded OS 2 via DM. However the PB still will not open out onto the home screen.

    The PB is stuck on the initial Blackberry splash screens.

    I returned it to Harvey Norman who've accepted it as a Warrantable fault and are sending it back to the BB office in Aus.

    BUT - I've wondered if all that really needed to happen was a battery pull to fix it.

    If only we could do that with a PB - what an inexpensive fix that may have been,eh!!!

    Heavens, sorry to hear about your PB! That totally sucks. I wished the factory default on the DM worked... I'm hope you're not left without your PB for too long.

    Okay - so an update as to what's happened to date trying to fix my PB's failure to start up properly since I downloaded OS2.

    When I returned it to Harvey Norman they told me that they would send it on to RIM for repairs - instead they installed Desktop Manager onto a pc and then did an install on the red blinking light.

    The PB worked properly and they gave it back to me.

    I used it for about 6 hours and turned it on and off approx 4 times before the same thing as before happened - on start up the pb looped in the Blackberry Playbook screen that has the coloured balls etc - and failed to get past that point.

    Next I uninstalled my Desktop Mgr and then installed afresh and downloaded the PB software on the red blinking light.

    Again - this worked well and I used the PB in all screens etc until I had turned it off and on maybe 4 times or so - and then the same problem - it looped in the initial welcome screen.

    So on Harvey Norman's advice I rang the Blackberry toll free number and they have accepted it as a repair job.

    After receiving a postal pack from Blackberry, via Australia Post, I have sent my PB off to Teleplan in Sydney, who are the Blackberry Agents in Australia.

    This intermittent problem had never occurred prior to my downloading OS2 - and OS2 may or may not be implicated in this problem.

    However - I've owned and frequently used my PB since October and never had any hint of a problem with any feature or aspect of it.

    NB: The Blackberry toll free number was answered by a woman in Portugal who was wonderfully helpful and who, after speaking with some techo people at her end, organised everything related to the PB being accepted by Teleplan for repairs. (I am totally relieved that I didn't get an Indian call centre - my golly they're difficult to deal with!)

    Good luck heaven! Hope you get it back soon. I do find with the OS2 there are some more glitchy stuff then I had before such as the Overdrive Media app. It could be that since its an Android app ported over that there may be a few little hiccups still. After some fiddling with it I got it to work and refuse to close the app like I do with Kobo to prevent it from taking forever to find my library book! :)
