WHAT!?!?!?!?
I caught in one of the videos that the camera is the same as the one thats in the Playbook.
Granted yes, it seems to always be in focus, its weird they would remove this feature.... maybe the are just that confident in the camera?

You know I was just reading about Auto Focus vs EDof (extended depth of Field) as per Nokia's cameras, but I'm sure the same info applies to BBs.
I'm not sure that the current BBs have Auto Focus either... anyhow here is the link. Enjoy. Hope you find it as enlightening as I did.

i know the storm 2 has auto focus with zoom and that thing runs on 5.0 weird stuff rim does maybe the camera is better now compared to the storm 2 3.2 mp
The Torch does as well, but both Storm and Torch are thicker phones allowing for the Auto Focus mechanism and for my Torch I also have an amazing zoom lens... but given the thickness or lack of thickness the new Bold has they would have to switch out their cameras from an Auto Focus to an EDoF format...
makes sense theres acouple of droids in the market that dont have auto focus i guess it wont kill RIM or maybe its because that kodak fiscal long as the phone gets on the shelf
@pbforever glad you said that since the 9900 is the thinnest blackberry ever the other os7 phones must have auto focus i know there thicker than the 9900 for sure especially the 9850/60 which shouldve been the flagship phone
@ Certified, perhaps that Kodak fiasco is a contributing factor, but how much do you wanna bet that bloggers and BGR will be all over Rim for not having autofocus on their flagship product??? Seriously that's just giving the dog a bone... imo... :) LOL, even though the camera may be an excellent camera and it can't be any other way to fit the form factor of the 9900.
well analyst gone come with there prediction of course then BGR with there iphone camera comparison with the 9900 RIM is asking for a beatdown the 9900 would hold up strong watch
I know the 9900 will hold up, but I can just see the writing...
"Rim fails again to deliver an Auto Focus camera on their Flagship phone!" - BGR reports.
Although the 9900 boasts a 5 mp camera like the iPhone5 it doesn't have an autofocus feature.
Yes it can shoot pics and videos at 720 p resolution, but it cannot do it as well as an iPhone 5 due to the fact that is has no autofocus!!
Can ya see it??!? LOL :D
i can see it coming across the mountain trailing the 500+ comments with fandroids & isheep
although.. too be fair... i have never had an issue taking a picture with my Playbook
they are always in focus
well we will see in about 4 more weeks or less
More important that AF or not is actual picture quality. Does it matter how the camera takes the picture if the picture is great?
I should point out that on the official "Features" pages on blackberry.com, the 9810 and 9850/9860 both have "continuous auto focus" listed under the cameras section. The 9900/9930 does not have that feature listed, which is fueling the speculation that they have EDof cameras instead.
It has already been confirmed the camera is the same as the Playbook camera
The PB camera has no autofocus
