With the iPad 2 to be officially revealed by Apple on March 2nd I wonder how RIM will respond to regain some media attention on the Playbook because truth be told.... the media seems to be treating the Playbook like the ugly girl with a great personality.

As far as the iPad 2, bring it on! I look forward to seeing how it also falls short of the PlayBook.@jforce1

I think part of the lack of media attention is RIM's fault. They really haven't pushed it like they should. We know that the PlayBook is awesome and can roll with the best of them, there are many people don't have a clue about it. RIM needs to take a page from Apple and really advertise the hell out of it. They need to inform the world of its awesomeness.

The mainstream does not care about amazing specs... you need to just convince them that this product is cool and will change your life. Apple has mastered that art in a way no other company has.

So well said. People don't care about raw specs as us tech geeks, but they care about how "cool" the device is, or how impactful the device will be their life. Apple has definitely mastered it. RIM should just pit it out there and really advertise the PlayBook. Show the world its portability, functionality and its "cool" factor. The Flash integration in the PlayBook cannot be matched by any other tablet out there. The TI processor has outshined the Tegra 2 processor in many tests. They just need to LET THE WORLD KNOW!!!

The PlayBook does have plenty of "cool" factors. The media just needs to get them out there in front of people. If the media won't do it then RIM needs to advertise the hell out of this thing and show just what it can do.

Most of the mainstream media has written off RIM and the PlayBook. Its really up to RIM to advertise it and bring it to the public.

It does seem like only Apple gets attention from the media. Makes you wonder why.

They build a lot of buzz to surround their products and they spare almost no expense in advertising. Of course the media is going to give them more attention, they give the media more attention.

RIM needs to get the Playbook out there even if they have to work around the clock. Give regular and continuous software updates with plenty app additions. First we heard it was early in the first quarter, then February, then March. I have seen some say April. Can they meet any deadlines?

That gives them until March 31. And realistically speaking they only have to offer a wifi only version in 1 market and they would have still kept their word. I'm obviously hoping thats not what they do, but it could happen.
