LaunchPad – Create Your Own Homescreen Launchers – OS 4.6+

Launchpad Joe let me know that Tafasa released a slick new application that lets you create your own homescreen launchers on your BlackBerry. It is only compatible with the Tour, Bold, 8900 Curve, & Storm but works like a charm! The best part is you can create up to 25 launchers!

The app is super cheap at $1.99 (on sale for 99 cents until Aug 15th) and is a dream to use. You can choose your own icons and setup takes seconds.

From the description:

Ever wanted to put a link to your favorite website straight on your homescreen? LaunchPad will let you do just that! LaunchPad is a utility to allow you to make your own homescreen web launcher icons by simply giving it a URL, a title, and optionally and icon. LaunchPad allows you to pick your own image as an icon, or it will even try to fetch the icon from the website if it provides a large size icon (not all sites do this, but many of the larger ones such as CNN do)

Creating an icon is simple. Click on the LaunchPad icon and you are presented with a simple form. Enter all the values, and then click the button. That’s it! Now you have your very own web launcher icon on your homescreen. Clicking it will launch the browser and take you straight to the page you chose. The perfect, eye-pleasing solution for all those frequently visited websites.

Features:

    * Pick your own title
    * Choose an image stored on your device, use the default icon, or try to fetch the icon from the website if it provides one
    * Simple to use
    * Ability to have up to 25 web launcher icons on your homescreen at the same time

  1. Does this program create stand-alone launchers or is it strictly a front end, pulling from a database? The program name leads me to believe it’s the latter and that it must be running in the background in order for the launchers to work. I imagine the program loads with each reboot automatically, similar to MeterBerry and others. Can someone who has this installed respond?

    Still, it sounds handy (fun even) for those who do not mind running additional background apps.
