I like to shoot objects and my 9780 has always been great at that, but one day, I wanted to take pictures of a listing on my screen with my PlayBook and that's when I noticed that the right hand side of the picture was out of focus. I thought it was the lighting, but after having tried with a different monitor, from different angles and with printed paper and objects, I decided to contact RIM to see if it could come from a software glitch.
While trying to resolve the issue, I conducted more tests with both the front and back cameras (I even took shots with the device upside down, etc.) and after having looked at my pictures, RIM thought it could be a hardware problem and they created a RMA.
I have now received my unit back and the cameras are now properly aligned with the case (we thought it could be one reason), but the issue remains.
Because I'm looking to replace my current Blackberry with a new one, I recently did some research on the new OS7 phones and that's when I first heard of those new EDoF lenses.
Now since the PlayBook is equipped with those lenses, I'm thinking that there is nothing that can be done to sort out my issue ( This shot taken from a Nokia E7 shows a similar problem), but just to be sure, I'm asking you whether you've experienced a similar problem or not.
Aim your PlayBook at a page in front of you or your monitor or your keyboard and tell me if you see a difference in sharpness between the left and the right side of the screen :).
In my experience, those shots look terrible compared to what you get from a 9780 and I would be very disappointed if the new Blackberrys are as bad :|
