I was just recently perusing YouTube for Playbook Vids, and it looks like people are making use of the SDK that came out, as you can find some apps that are being shown using the simulator.

Mose are fairly simple apps and some are kind of obscure (to me anyway). But it’s nice to see the development has begun! Hopefully Appworld is full of neat apps by launch day. Here are some that I found:

    Puzzle Timer

    Quote:
Puzzle Timer is an accurate and easy to use timer designed specifically for speed-cubing. It has all of the features you will find on most competition approved timers, and works equally well for many tasks where accurate time keeping is required.

It features a simple and easy to use layout. Taping the clock face will start the timer, to pause the timer simply tap the clock face again. Once the timer is paused you can choose to either save it to the statistics report, reset the timer, or restart it from where you left off. Features: – User definable delayed start, 0-15 seconds – Displays fastest and slowest times, average time and the total number solved

Not really sure what a Puzzle Timer is.. but as you can see it’s already available in App World! Lucky guy must have won a Playbook for getting approved for App World.

    Pow Pool Playbook

The blackberry Playbook by RIM will be released early 2011, RIM has started rolling out the developer sdks, the first one available right now is the one for developing flash/ air apps and turning them into Playbook apps.

So yeah, wanted to give that a try =)

    Simple Drawing Program

    Quote:
This is my first prototype app for BlackBerry PlayBookTablet OS.

It’s a drawing application with currently only a pen tool and four colors.

Psychrometric App for Blackberry Playbook and Android Tablets.

    Quote:
Calculate psychrometric point properties of a single air stream or condition and two air streams. Multiple psychrometric points are automatically plotted on the psychrometric chart. HVAC components such as cooling coils, heating coils, or enthalpy wheels can be analyzed based on entering air and leaving air conditions.

Once points have been plotted on the psych cart, parts of the cart can be hidden or exposed for easy comparison. Chart overlays such as comfort zones and passive cooling zones can be displayed to easily see compare and target current psychrometric properties.

    uhhhhh neat!

I can’t see it not having one, although I find it worrying that their spec sheet on their website doesn’t mention it. How would Poynt (which was shown as a demo at CES) run on it without one??

Just listened to the CB podcast, and it was confirmed that it has GPS. Well actually it was deduced that since the TI OMAP 4430 chipset has integrated GPS, then the Playbook will have GPS.
