I think the new RIM CEO is right to hold off on the BB10 phones until they are ready, but we need some controlled leaks. Two very negative articles about RIM in two days in the NYT, and not from Pogue either.

RIM can't just sit by through 9 months of negative articles. Saw some nerd kid's youtube on Blackberry London. After saying the phone was hot and the OS was supposed to be great he kept repeating no one will pay $200 for a blackberry no one will pay $200 for a blackberry.

Unfortunately the market thinks like him not us.

TH says until BB10 comes they push the BB7 phones. Might be better to build the brand and build up an anticipation campaign. Not sure I'm right, just saying something to think about.

By and large the negativity over Heins and RIM is on hold/over right now

There will be nothing new to complain about until latter half of 2012 when we can expect details on BB10 launch dates

On the agenda for Blackberry World which is May 1-3 is "BlackBerry 10 platform and roadmap"

All signs point to some showing off/demoing of the BB10 OS at Devcon or MWC in Feb

Between MWC at end of Feb and Blackberry World at the beginning of May is only 2 months

You have to believe Heins wants to lift up and show off a relatively fully baked BB10 device at Blackberry World

To do this they need to be pretty far ahead as of end of February at MWC

I'm glad they will have Demos. I think you are underestimating the negativity RIM is in for until those phones come out. I can pin point when the negativity is going to happen

1) The release of 2.0 - the news will be it does not have BBM so don't buy it. What you don't have BBM now and weren't looking for it? Still don't buy the playbook because it doesn't have BBM.

2) Windows phone is released (Lumia 900). Wow what a great phone it won't win market share from the almight Apple (not true but hey who cares they'll say it anyway) or Android. It likely will attract business types and so Blackberry's market share will go further into decline. (Media talking not me)

3) Release of iPhone 5. IPhone 5 will be a major advance (that's the media talking whether it is true or not they'll say it). Although Apple is losing ground to android devices, there is no doubt it is killing the Blackberry!!

Whay do I say this? The report in the NYT is about users switching from Blackberry to Android. The fact they are buying Androids instead of the iPhone was swept under the rug. Musn't offend the Apple faithful!!

RIM should be able to show the phones off early since no one really cares about how they work as phones, and that will be the hold up once they get the chips (carrier testing) That is the phone should be full functional months before it comes out.

Also I have to beleive that the BB10 phone OS is set. TH doesn't want this continual adding to the device while it's being set for market. He's putting that on a separate track for an update after it gets to makret. So the phone should be ready early. Hope we see it as you said. But brace yourself for negativity until Bloggers get the phone in their hands and are impressed <-- let's hope that happens.

You know it's funny how something are made to look so obvious but are not. When TH says RIM did too much adding of new features during the process of making a new phone/ OS build and that has to stop it comes across like, ya RIM was dumb they need to change.

It seems to me that this two track development is only good because RIM now has the ability to push out OS updates seperate from the portion that works with the phone system (i.e., no need for carriers to control the release of OS updates). I'm not sure what that could not have been done with the old OSes BB4, 5, 6, and 7. If it could have it seems pure management error, but if there is some technical reason for it, it might have been best to do continual upgrading on the way to release even if that caused delays.

The update with BBOS is horrible.

My mom has a Bell 9800 through work and the OS version I am pretty sure is the original work version.

She won't let me touch it as she is paranoid over it as its on BES

I told her to bring it in to IT to get it upgraded
