I knew the article was BS as soon as he said that "everyone knows what Blackberry needs - QNX". Most people are completely oblivious to what QNX is. What Blackberry needs is a clean simple interface and processors that run fast enough to prevent lag in most situations. I think OS7 will go a long ways towards keeping existing users and may even sway a few people from other platforms (probably more Windows Phone 7 than iPhone or Android). Besides, if they didn't make OS7 then people would just claim that RIM is falling even further behind the times. Will OS7 save them? No. Will it fill a need until the QNX phones come out? Probably. I think it is very premature to call it DOA.

This guy needs to be shot "dead on arrival" sad thing is that not to many people used a os 7 blackberry to make judgements but he sounds like he wants ios5 to compete with os7 and from the playbook standpoint why would he even throw sales number when clearly the ipad was out before the playbook now if there was a high return rate on the playbook then it would be a problem we all clearly seen how the playbook was busting the ipad sh!t on YouTube but that's the only thing they can use against a QNX powered tablet sale figures Darwin doesn't match the power of QNX if apple updated it 223 million times and that shows how smart all these analyst are they go off of a video with beta software & pause it and say yes its still trash ios5 is GARBAGE!!! in beta shutting phones down random resets and overheating the list goes on and on but what he don't know and BGR with there bashing etc is there's QNX powered superphones already in beta testing since the beginning of this year

Problem is, there is so much overlap now, PC Mag can no longer cover just PCs or they risk losing subscribers. I've noticed the same with Laptop Mag. The article topics are becoming more broad, its no longer just laptops but "mobile technologies"...well, there's a whole lot to talk about there but you also need to be all the more knowledgeable if you are going to branch out. Instead, you have jack-of-all-trade-master-of-none scenarios popping up where you have people reviewing BBs when they've never used one in their life. And yet, that sh*t journalism sells.
Personally, I'd rather seek out an expert and bounce around from expert to expert instead but, like your local mall, on-stop shopping sells.

Glad to know that I wasn't the only one that was bothered by this article.

I think the good news is that the death of RIM and Blackberry is such old news now everyone has moved on. I can see lots of kids going for the full screen torch over the iPhone as long as it is cheaper.
When I saw that roller coaster game on that torch I was like wow that's a bigger change than I thought.
In short screw him.

I'm new here, and would also like to leave a comment: I am convinced that Blackberry will always be in the game, no matter what happens in the board rooms or what critics say about RIM. I don't live in the States to see what's happening to RIM; I'm just following RSS feeds on sites with these kinds of info.
First: here in South Africa, blackberry sales is still an ongoing operation. More and more people are going for blackberry phones, because of the BIS feature, the fact that Blackberry can play Avi & DivX videos straight from it's media card (yes, South Africans loves to watch movies too), and recommendations that's going on between friends and family. I'm also one who constantly make effort to inform folks about on-hand experiences with phones and so on. When requesting sales from various shops via co-workers in the cellphone section, responses are that more blackberries are being sold than any other manufacturer. So this tells me that blackberry will always be around.
Secondly, with regards to the article, I agree with some of you: what blackberry users need is not software (OS), it's hardware (phone capabilities). With a stronger processor, graphics, memory, storage and definitely dedicated music keys (as with the curve series), the blackberry smartphone will precisely be what users are looking for.
So, to conclude, Blackberry has been around, and will always be around. :)
