i don't know if any of you have seen this but Engadget just posted a hands on preview of the Blackberry Bold 9900.

I'm assuming everybody by now is aware that apple announced a new feature to their upcoming iOS5 - iMessenger. A lot of BB fans, myself included have been quick to point out that this is a blatant copying of BBM which has been around for a long time now. But then again, without 'copying what others have sone, there would be very limited progress as far as technology is concerned.
I'm more interested in knowing what some of you think about this. Do you think that iMessenger can take on BBM?

I'm used to share video/photo via Flickr and YouTube. The new version of Blackberry Messenger could transfer video files to my Blackberry buddies. It's pretty good except the max size is 6MB. But most recorded videos are much bigger. Is there any app can let me send big video file to my Blackberry buddies? Thanks,

I was debating posting this commercial but after all the tips sent in about it I caved… Verizon aired a commercial about their network parodying Apple & AT&T’s “there’s an app for that” style commercial. This one is “there is a map for that” touting Verizon’s supposed 3G coverage superiority. Check it out below:

Personally I have heard arguments from both both sides of the fence and its hard to compare one map to the other. AT&T does not really provide you with a coverage map for 3G only on a national scale. They only show you city by city or total data coverage including EDGE on the national level. Verizon is also tricky with their partners that they share towers with. Many people love the features available on GSM carriers like conference calling and setting ring length but solid call quality is nothing to shake a stick at. Still the iPhone has been killing AT&T’s network out here in NYC so I am all for giving them a little taste of their medicine. Even if it may be wrong… It still feels so right!

via Engadget Mobile

N8D let me know in the comments that he followed up on his BlackBerry 8520 disassembly video with another useful video. In his latest he compares the form factors of the BlackBerry 8520 vs 8900 vs 9000 vs 9530 vs 9630 vs 8330. Its a pretty good overview if you just want to see how the devices have evolved over the years especially since you cannot walk into one store and compare them all side by side. Its also cool to see how the Curve go from the 8330 to 8900 to 8520…

Talk about a great weekend for videos. You should catch these two clips before RIM’s lawyers get back to work tomorrow and have them taken down. The new free app helps you transcode video easily to a BlackBerry friendly format. You just select the video and the your BlackBerry version and it will do its magic. It can even pickup video from YouTube and convert it using a simple button on top of each video. You can also tweak the setting like bitrates if you wish so you are not stuck with their profiles.

Many of these simple end user apps have either been a little too complicated like MediaCoder or cost money. RealPlayer SP is free and from what I heard will remain free. I am not sure if I will install RealPlayer again on my machine after all the headaches it caused in the years past but its worth a try if you need a simple video transcoding solution.

Features include:

Play Web video on nearly any device, including the Blackberry family, Nokia smartphones, iPhone, iPod, iTunes, Xbox, and many others through automatic conversion and transfer to the correct device format, including Flash, Windows Media, QuickTime & RealVideo.

Save time by downloading several videos or transferring the same video to many different devices from one screen.

Add custom device profiles and easily change format settings to maximize video quality and control for a device.

Support for latest versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.

Check it out at http://www.realplayer.com and let me know what you think!
RealPlayer SP Beta Offers Free Video Converting For BlackBerry

N8D let me know that he has disassembled the BlackBerry 8520 Curve on video along with pictures. The video is very useful for those of you who want to see naked Curves.

Since there is no need to replace the dirty trackballs anymore I am not sure how often I would use such a guide but it is a good thing to have! Though since RIM started fusing the LCD screens to the plastic screens you don’t even have to clean out dust anymore. Though you may need to fix that trackpad over time…

Engadget could not get past the license agreement but Kevin @ CrackBerry managed to get past it to demo the Storm 2 and OS 5.1 for all of us. There are already newer hardware models and OS versions so this is just a taste once again and it does not look ready for market yet.

So far it looks like SurePress is alive and kicking. The screen still clicks but the hardware is supposedly better and refined. Kind of like how the BlackBerry is a more solid smart phone so hopefully the Storm will get some nice accents.

It looks like there is 256mb of application memory which is a nice bundle. RIM also threw in 2GB of onboard storage which I have yet to ever understand. 2GB is useless since you cannot install applications to it and you can get a 16gb card for cheap that has faster transfer speeds. Hopefully RIM will let you install applications to it in OS 5.0+. This model did not have Wi-Fi but it looks like the release will definitely be adding Wi-Fi to the mix.

So what are you waiting for? Check out the video after the jump!
