This is definitely Verizon clearing stock out before the Storm 2 is announced and released. This is nothing crazy considering other outfits like Amazon and Wirefly have had it for free for quite awhile but still it is a sign of the times.

Bla1ze even spotted the fact that the latest Storm OS 5.0.0.191 had a telltale leak of the Storm 2 user guide. That guide points out the already known inclusion of Wi-Fi but its good to hear.

Lastly the latest rumors on the forums across the web are setting the Storm 2 for release on Sep 29th for B2B and Oct 14th for regular retail. Check out the details at this link.

So what do you think? Are you holding off for a Storm 2?

The Tour upgrade makes sense since it is incremental and I hope it helps users with the annoying trackball issues but that may be a hardware issue.

NOTE: It looks like the 4.6.0.508 for the Bold is just the package version and not the app version in my opinion. My guess is it will probably be OS 4.6.0.282 or .291 in the app version.

The upgrade for AT&T is rumored to be coming August 25th and bring:

AT&T Visual Voicemail (optional feature)

General handset software optimization and improvements

Capability to set the device to "2G only" for better battery life and coverage in some international roaming situations

Additional VPLs including My-Cast Weather, Wiki Mobile, Mobile Banking, a few games and more.

Now I am only curious as to how much AT&T will try to charge for Visual Voicemail. Anybody want to place some gentleman bets? My guess is $9.95/month for something YouMail will do for free.

It looks like Verizon has updated their website with their new Buy One Get One free free offer. This time it is running until October 10th so get a move on it.

The other main change is that the second device does not need to be a BlackBerry. It could be another phone or a netbook or broadband wireless card. This should make quick work of Verizon’s BlackBerry Tour inventory.

RIM has not released a camera-less BlackBerry since the 8830 (unless you count the 8350 camera-less version). Many people are not allowed to have ANY cameras at work so this is a real boon for government employees/consultants, lawyers, and more. I know many companies that are still issuing 8700’s and 8830’s because of the camera issue.

You can find the preorder for the BlackBerry Tour without the camera at this link!
